I agree broadly with what you are saying, so I don't want to push the point to far. Just have a theory that it is different for a "known" quantity to switch to a more popular number vs. a brand new signing taking an iconic number.

Fair, not backup. Maybe rotation striker is a better term for it.
Just meant that ppl think because he took 14, we are going to treat him as the next Thierry Henry.

Surely that would've meant wirtz and isak would be on a hiding to nothing with the fanbase as well as external commentators?

The only thing that makes me sad is the decision to give out backup striker the #14 shirt.
Genuinely think the number still throws a lot of pundits to thinking he's our next big striker.

Not a Liverpool fan, but i think slot's tactics ARE working.
But they are also leaving the cbs badly exposed + Liverpool are in a bit of rut at the back. That's a vicious cycle that slot doesn't have the personnel to fix right now.

Gyokeres for me always felt like plan B. Rest kai against weaker opposition, allow for more rotation, etc.
He's had to play a lot more than mikel would like, but hasn't shown signs of turning into a clinical bagsman for us, although there is still time.

We have been a bit soft at the back all game. Team needs rotation, this run of fixtures was brutal.
Great to watch us against top teams, but must take a lot out of players.
