Piano Fantasies was an emotional concert that reminded me why I originally decided to pursue this profession. It was the first time that one of my productions had its premiere in Japan, and I could not have wished for a more fitting place. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this possible!

25 years ago, the first Merregnon album was released. It’s remarkable how strongly it has shaped my path - and still does. Cliché or not, your early twenties are the time to try, create, and learn while you can still take risks (almost) freely.

Ten years ago today, Final Symphony II was performed in Osaka by the London Symphony Orchestra, the first time a foreign orchestra played video game music in its country of origin. Fans said they could sense the deep engagement, passion and love that went into it. @mischacheung.bsky.social

Final Symphony II with the London Symphony Orchestra, exactly 10 years ago today, and the start of our Japan tour with concerts in Osaka and Yokohama. An emotional, deeply moving time filled with some of my most cherished memories.

Four years ago, the concert film of Merregnon: Land of Silence with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra was released. Without a doubt one of the highlights of my career, and an opportunity I remain deeply grateful for.

Almost exactly ten years ago, the world premiere of Final Symphony II took place in Bonn, Germany, featuring new arrangements of music from Final Fantasy V, VIII, IX, and XIII. The programme was set to embark on a world tour right afterwards. ♥️

A few more impressions from the Piano Fantasies - music from SQUARE ENIX sessions in Stockholm. Mischa Cheung @mischacheung.bsky.social at the piano, with Lars Nilsson shaping the sound and David Tarrodi @yellowtone.bsky.social capturing it all on film.

A snippet from the choir rehearsal for X-Out, part of the Symphonic Shades concert featuring the music of Chris Hülsbeck @chrishuelsbeck.bsky.social, performed 17 years ago today. Jonne Valtonen’s @jonnevaltonen.bsky.social arrangement remains one of my absolute favorites to this day.

Almost exactly 16 years ago: Sinfonia Drammatica with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Music from Legend of Mana, Turrican, Kingdom Hearts and Giana Sisters. A rare East meets West moment, with Yoko Shimomura and Chris Hülsbeck @chrishuelsbeck.bsky.social attending in person.

An absolutely breathtaking concert by the LSO under Sir Antonio Pappano in Dresden yesterday, and at the same time a reunion with dear friends. Truly moving, and deeply enjoyable.

I know throwbacks can be a bit tiresome, but Final Symphony with the LSO, twelve years ago today, was a groundbreaking moment for me. It changed everything.
So I hope you’ll forgive the nostalgia. And what a coincidence – I get to see the LSO live tonight, right here in my hometown!

Another little throwback, this time to my first meeting with @chrishuelsbeck.bsky.social in the late ’90s. We met at a London Symphony Orchestra concert featuring Jerry Goldsmith’s music, conducted by the maestro himself.
(And yes – early digital photography at its finest.)

It was a special week in Des Moines: Final Symphony was conducted by a chief conductor for the very first time, Joseph Giunta. A dedicated orchestra, an attentive audience – and a wonderful example of how naturally video game music has found its place in concert halls all over the world.
