Preferential option for the poor. The liberal church needs to stop this openness as an end in itself. Jesus did not come to proclaim "openness" but the basileia. The goodness of this good news is worth repenting for. Grace is not grace if we are left with our idols intact.

My son lost another tooth today which set him into serious reflection, child of a disenchanted cosmos as he is, what *is* the tooth fairy? The conclusion is that the tooth fairy has to be either a trained rat, squirrel, or chipmunk. Something in the rodent family."

After I finish reading the story of Jonah, my son looks serious and thoughtful and says, "Dad-o?" - And I get mentally prepared for any kind of interesting theological question - "Is 'da-na-na-na da-na da-na - Can't touch this!' the same artist as the one who goes 'she's a very kinky girl....'?"
