Quilter, baker, birder. Woke and proud of it. Love living in very blue Colorado. 🌲 🏔️ 🦅 (She/Her)
Here’s the final “Indigo Stars,” hanging at the local quilt guild show last month.

I’m pouring all this political stress and drama into increased quilting creativity and production. I will not let them steal my joy.

Beautiful fabrics. fyi: These look to be nuthatches, not blue jays (bird nerd here).

Trying to piece away the stress and worry… Progress on this ad lib indigo stars project. I think I’ll need to sew a couple more large white star blocks for balance, then on to the indigo sashing and layout decisions. Thank you for following along with me and this project! #quiltsky #quilting

Still adding new blocks to this indigo star study. Currently 4 different star blocks ranging from 4” to 16” and countless fabrics. I’m including some blue teal to brighten the mood. Not sure of the final layout but this keeps me from dwelling on the dRump regime cruel antics.

Work in progress. Just free wheeling blue stars from all scraps on dark indigo background. #quiltsky #quilting

Love the color palette of your Fairly Isleish. Here’s a favorite of mine… tiny house table runner personalized with the family’s Colorado mountain home, pets, neighborhood, town, and a little local history. All scraps and such fun to make and gift.

Border focus on two I-Spy baby quilts I made with animal fussy cuts as Sawtooth Star centers and themed piano key borders. Wild animals border is leopard, zebra, and giraffe prints. Farm animals border is eggs, chicken wire, honeycomb, and gingham prints. 2019 and 2022 #quiltsky #quilting

Final finish for 2024, using a gifted charm set of 5” squares, (Moda) and some yardage. 54”x64” free-hand free motion quilted, Pfaff powerquilter 16.0 sit-down long arm. The selvage reads: “Life is better on the bay.” I call it “Serenity Now.” Bonus points if you know the reference. #bluesky #quilts

Now all 12 blocks are pieced using “The Secret Life of Squirrels” fabric plus bits from my stash. Next up is trimming, sashing, and sewing the blocks together (my least favorite part of quilt making…). #quiltsky #quilting

“IT’S A GOOD DAY TO BE HAPPY”
Thank you, @BrigitteHeitland for Moda Zen Chic. #quiltsky

Three more “The Secret Life of Squirrels” blocks done, and I’m having fun using random leftover scraps for the stars. My fave so far is the lower right — squirrels roasting marshmallows! (Happy to see I’ll keep my points.)

On a whim, I bought this silly Clothworks “Secret Life of Squirrels” fabric last year. My sister-in-law’s mother loved it, so I’m doing a quickie throw quilt for her. Each center will be a different scene of squirrels camping and the stars will be bright colors from my scraps. #quiltsky #quilting

I recently made a scrappy version of this using just the Kaleidoscope block and am working on another version now. Such a versatile block! Yours is lovely

No matter how anyone tries to whitewash what we saw in real time with our own eyes on January 6, 2021, I’ll never forget the awful day trump and his allies plotted, conspired, lied, inspired, instigated… and ultimately failed at its violent insurrection attempt to overthrow our free & fair election.

Auditioning fabric. How cute is the tiny quail fabric on the bottom? #quiltsky

#lonetreefionabea is deeply snuggled in with her green llama stuffy for a cold and snowy Colorado night while I hand stitch a quilt binding. #quiltsky

A modern quilt for my daughter. Sunset Hike pattern by Alison Hamby, In the Light Quilts, with my modifications to make it king sized. Center squares are My Hero Wears Cowboy Boots by Blank Quilting. Perfect for a Colorado mountain home at 9000 feet. #quiltsky

The party is right here: Free-hand FMQ “Fall Leaves” on New Year’s Eve! I quilted this partially on a longarm at a LQS, but couldn’t get it done in my reserved time. Finishing it up at home on my Pfaff sit down. Different stitches between the 2 machines, but “Done is better than perfect!” #quiltsky

I do love the way that striped binding miters at the corners. #quiltsky

I love looking at the back of quilts. Working on this one now, free-hand FMQ with my Pfaff 1600 sit down long arm. #quiltsky #quilting
