Hey #fediforum, I've an ask: If you attended my session at the end of FediForum today, and you'd like to see me continue to work on these ideas, please support me financially.

Right now I'm having to look for work outside of the Fediverse because I simply cannot make ends meet.

I need €60-70k […]

How did this go? Well, I received a total of €145 in one-time donations, no new recurring donations.
Hey #fediverse people, I've an ask: If you appreciate all that I do for the fediverse and open social web, and you'd like to see me continue to do that work, please support my work financially.

One idea that I may adopt from Bluesky's moderation infrastructure is the ability to set a validity date, so like "this recommendation is valid until this date", and then a retraction is automatically issued (though the server doesn't […]

Just a regular reminder, whilst I build tech to help moderation and trust & safety teams, I'm not responsible for setting policy or moderating any specific content, account or server.

I don't control what moderators do with the tools I provide, though I do try to make sure they're safe and […]

Watt from Platformatic sounds interesting for improving Node.js server performance: https://blog.platformatic.dev/93-faster-nextjs-in-your-kubernetes

It's kinda like pm2 but using SO_REUSEPORT, so the kernel handles the load balancing and forwarding of requests to each node.js process.

Watt optimizes Next.js on Kubernetes for 93% faster latency and near-perfect reliability, overcoming scaling challenges.

@lumocra you could probably bring Leihbase into the fediverse; I know Mitra has already done significant work on bringing value flow exchanges into the Fediverse.

Oh, of course the founder was a man. That explains *so much* about why safety was so lax.

No matter what the politicians say, this is discrimination. Look at how the regulation is worded: This is not a ban on its use for a particular indication, it's a ban for a population.

If you want parameters and quality, then you end up with something like:

Accept: text/html;foo="bar";q=0.5, text/plain

So the previous Accept header with profile was actually equivalent to:

Accept: application/ld+json;profile="https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams";q=1

Why? Because media types with parameters are distinct types from media types without parameters, and the latter is what we declared we wanted to accept.

Also, q isn't a parameter, and cannot be. It can only be used for "quality".

Like, if you use the accepts package from npm, and you say:

accepts(request).types(["application/ld+json"])

And then pass a request that uses:

Accept: application/ld+json; profile="https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams"

Then it will return null instead of a match.

Good gosh, content negotiation with the Accept header is some truly weird stuff.
