Phew, good thing we have 18 National Guard soldiers here in a park on a gorgeous evening to protect us from the terror that is an engagement proposal.

Of the almost 500 federal agents counted operating out of the USPP at 1900 Anacostia Dr SE:

And that gender split does make me wonder what the bathroom situation is in that building, which was has bathrooms designed for a few dozen people in the building at a time.

Original VH1 and MTV are basically obsolete in the era of YouTube, and Tiny Desk is the current incarnation of MTV Unplugged. But also where is my Popup Video YouTube channel.

Here's my email to the Council Chair & all At-Larges (our ward lacks a councilmember) regarding the Mayor's proposal for a new Commanders stadium on the RFK Stadium site in DC:
An email going into detail on the fiscal impact of a stadium & high chance of more taxdollar needs than are currently suggested, the very low number of home games an NFL stadiums has as compared to DC's other stadiums & how this will not yield as much activity as the Mayor anticipates, the difficulty of reprogramming an NFL stadium for other events as compared to other venues, the risk of competing with our own venues elsewhere (including in struggling Gallery Place / Chinatown), how the fanbase of NFL games trends more suburban in nature & will have a higher transportation impact (I mention a metric using vehicle-miles traveled, or VMT) than other stadiums in DC, and the opportunity costs of what else we could do with $1 billion and 200 acres of land in a prime location. The email also delves into the noted constraints with to-own housing on the federally-owned land, and options for navigating within and around these constraints.

South Dakota, New Mexico, and to some extent Connecticut high shares of federal contracts (about 15%). Most other states have very low shares of federal contracts (just above 0%), except for a few middleweights such as Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Alabama, and Alaska. A color-coded map of federal workers as a percentage of Total Population, excluding Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland. Alaska and Hawaii are clear outliers (almost 2%). The Great Plains & Rock Mountain States, as well as West Virginia, also have substantial shares of federal employees.
