Our worst enemies are our best friends.

So true. I remember as a kid seeing whole meadows full of them. Now, I rejoice to see one or two floating around my yard.

I don’t know you but my heart aches for you. As a father, I cannot imagine the depth of that loss.

Perhaps this is one of those traps we fall into largely because words and ideas are only symbols. The human mind communicates and functions constantly with symbols yet we often forget they are only symbols pointing to Ultimate Reality. Reality at its core is far too subtle for “this or that”.

I think about this a lot. We talk about not grasping and not focusing on effort. However, if we have no intention at all how do we orient toward awakening? I think about this often. Zen says no effort but Hinduism can be split. The Gita focuses on work. The above quote speaks against effort.

Glad to know my wife and I are not the only ones with a pen fetish. Every time we go on vacation we find new pens. Must say we are a bit more pedestrian with our pen purchased but the passion is the same.
