Tried this. Despite a lot of 'less like this' and blocking a good list of keywords (also pictured) I'm now getting a lot of people posting SCREENSHOTS of posts getting mad at these exact things. Bluesky *really* wants you to be mad at American politics.

I'll keep trying.

And it's not as if she defended herself by saying 'whoops, my bad, I should've been more careful about my quotes, this one was on me'

Her defense was 'I did my journalistic duty'. If you're using professional ethics as a shield you have to abide by your professional ethics, surely?

These two things are both bad, but they seem really obviously different to me. The meaning of the quote is clearly substantially changed.

This site is so weird, man. "Don't celebrate cold-blooded murder, no matter who is being killed" somehow making you a hard-right conservative is such a central example of Blueskyism.

When people think of Bluesky that's the view they think of and it makes me sad as the tech is actually very good.

This is why I made this post. Discovering and understanding how research works doesn't make people corporate shills. Analysing the real-world problem has clearly made you very angry and you perceive that analysis as a challenge to you personally.

The initial post here is just economic illiteracy. 'If you ignore the research spending something can be made cheaply' is true but if you ignore the research spending you don't *get* more research spending!

It has to be paid for somehow.

These guys are so weird. 'Says the guy who just lost an election' coming from the guy who's literally never won one.

Their entire purpose seems to be to dunk but their perpetual impotence means the dunks don't really mean anything.

Thinking about how prescient this quote was from @bretdevereaux.bsky.social given the current situation with American universities. Without the savings, mustering public defense for academia is next-to-impossible.

They get that it's satire, they just don't *care*.

Below is a summation in meme form how the Punisher guys think about this:

The joys of the 3D printer. Bought a 0.2 mm head and printed off some models. The below Battletech tank is super neat given it cost ~$0.04 or so in plastic and electricity.

Choose 20 fruits and vegetables that have stayed with you or influenced you. One edible plant per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just carbs (1/20)

I still remember Maintenance. These weird 3D models were weirdly enchanting as a kid.

Saw this earlier and remembered it from ~2020. The latter half of the 10s and the early 20s was a bizarre time. 'I'm not explaining my ideology, but it's definitely right' was briefly given the sort of weight previously reserved for religion.
