Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Archives are precious, but most of the stuff I work with hasn't even been collected by archives! Defend your local archives. Expand them. Donate things to them. Preserve the things others haven't!

We're probably going to see more of these sudden removals caused by panic-induced changes of policy further upstream. If you're using an online resource that's really important to your research, this is the moment to get your plan B in place. Eg: is there a data download, or an alternative source?
As a result of the Bodleian Folk archives being no longer available from today, I'd like to try to get an idea of how many of us use it, how, and how often. It's such a vital resource for so many of us. I've set up an email at hlfolkmusic@gmail.com for this so please do feed back

A large number of History posts at Britain's universities have already gone, and many more are under threat. In my view we could lose nearly a third of posts. The @royalhistsoc.bsky.social has prepared a toolkit for colleagues at risk, which is here: blog.royalhistsoc.org/2022/05/24/s...
