all kings. heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. we shouldn't attempt to eliminate inequality from our societies only to bring it back in our conception of God

the one true church is, unfortunately, the Jansenists, and the correct ecclesiology is conciliarism

I'm from a totally different country (NZ) and most clergy are normal and not deep in US right-wing politics, but there is one terminally online nutjob who livestreams his parish Masses, and he dedicated his homily this past Sunday to Kirk, who was "martyred" by Marxism.

save yourself from this perverse generation which is perishing

I believe Sebastian Brock is an exception to this rule

JD Flynn of The Pillar also said this. "if the Church allowed same-sex marriage, I'd hang up my baptism"

again, I'm not against it (nor do I really believe in "reverence" as a criteria, that part was lampooning trads)- it's just overused. the standard posture for the Eucharistic prayer should be standing. kneeling could be used on weekdays in Lent etc
June 24, 2025 at 9:23 PM
I don't kneeling should be totally removed, just restricted to days other than Sunday, and probably at some time other than the Eucharistic prayer. it's a penitential posture than has been made the be-all end-all of "reverence"
June 24, 2025 at 5:56 AM
kneeling to receive the Eucharist is less reverent than standing, but if it's the best those people can do then I suppose...
June 23, 2025 at 11:04 AM
same, it's not bad or anything but it's somewhat outside of my context living in another country

a few weeks later, in an article about why popes need friends- "Leo has friends, Benedict and John Paul II had friends, Francis didn't have close friends". source: "he spent long periods chatting with his close friend, the atheist Eugenio Scalfari, which is why he didn't have any close friends."

been watching some old videos of him visiting Roman parishes and chatting with children from his early days in Rome. he was truly lovable and remarkably free

I remember them saying in a podcast a while ago about how uncomfortable it was to have the pope personally dislike them. really hard to see how that's anything other than projection

seems fine to me

salvation is the free unconditional gift of God to all, which we receive through trust, which is why all are saved

someone has to keep track of the opposition

Who must go?
May 8, 2025 at 11:25 PM
today I took a closer look at some of the men from "las periferias" that Francis chose in recent years- the archbishops of Rabat, Tehran and Algiers, all places where the church is a tiny minority which lives in fraternity and dialogue with other religions. we could do much worse than that

the claim that gay people are intrinsically disordered is Not True. the claim that gay sex is intrinsically evil is Not True. these are heterodox views.
