Film buff. Adult in training. The horrors persist, but so do I.

This is not to take anything away from Sara Pichelli, but just a reminder that no matter how cool the characters are or how many great stories we get from them, Marvel and DC inherently don't give a fuck about their creators and treating them properly.

Yeah, I can definitely see that. It's actually pretty similar to Jessie Earl's read on the film, which certainly helped me feel a little bit better about the whole experience.

I watch a lot of horror movies each year, but I feel pretty confident in saying that'll still be the most disturbing film I've seen this year.

In a kinda weird full circle moment for this conversation, that's also more-or-less how I felt about Bugonia.

Absolutely diabolical use of Chappell Roan in one of those movies.

Oof, I do not envy you there. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, though. I heard some pretty mixed things about it, and was kinda worried because I absolutely loved her first two films.

I knew people exactly like Jack Haven's character in I Saw the TV Glow growing up. There're even been a few times where I felt like them.

That's kinda how I've felt watching both of Jane Schoenbrun's movies. Like, I knew about the trans allegory going in, but I didn't expect to be brutally reminded of what it's like growing up as a nerodivergent kid in the suburbs who could only really relate to people through TV shows & the internet

This is for a movie I actually like, so I don't know if this is really what you mean, but I felt like I needed a hug after watching Bugonia.
