Here's the script for a functional version of this if anyone wants it. I think this may be the whitest thing I've ever done, by the way.
Twin, you can't put a switch on the revolver, but you can put a switch on the glock. And this is why we got FTP: Functional Typed Programming languages. Look, if we create a module called Blick, we see every Blick.t has a name and an ammo count. And we create 2 blicks: a revolver with an ammo count of 6, and a G17 with an ammo count of 17. let revolver = Blick.create "Revolver" 6 let glock = Blick.create "G17" 17;; And if we call the shoot function on each blick, we run the program, and every time we pull, it shoots. It runs with the revolver and the glock. Blick.shoot revolver; (* Revolver ammo: 5 Revolver ammo: 4 ... Revolver ammo: 0 *) Blick.shoot glock; (* Glock ammo: 16 Glock ammo: 15 ... Glock ammo: 0 *) But twin, look: if we create a functor called Switch and call it on Blick, this means the BlickSwitch module will inherit everything from the Blick module. I'm finna make it make sense. We gotta use the Unix library, and in our functor, we're gonna create a function called switch. Is dynamic typing something that continues to exist only because it enables quick prototyping, or is there any theory that justifies it being used? Does it offer any actual software engineering benefits beyond the immediate short term? When a carpenter picks up a tool whose shape is not fixed until the moment it strikes the wood, is that tool merely a shortcut, or a different way of shaping the world? If a program’s meaning is revealed only as it runs, ask which is more fragile: a promise made before the journey begins, or an agreement forged step by step along the path. What breaks first: a structure bound tightly from the start, or one that learns its form as it grows?
