Costume Inspiration - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Gustopher and Douglas are meeting up to go Trick-or-Treating. Gustopher sees that Douglas has decided to go as the classic ghost for Halloween. Various spooky things are happening in a house in the background. There are two mysterious figures on the second floor with a spider above them. And demonic entity also appears to have a plate full of eyeballs as a bat watches from above. I hear they're full of protein. Gustopher: DOUGLAS! Great costume! Douglas: Thanks. Panel 2 Douglas poses in his costume. It's just a simple sheet with eye and arm holes cut out but it's effective. I'd give it four out of five rocks. Douglas explains his inspiration for the costume. Douglas: I decided to be a ghost. It represents my fear of never truly being seen and my hope to be remembered. Panel 3 Gustopher stands in his own costume. He is wearing the same taco costume he wore last year. He begins to contemplate his inspiration for such a costume. Thankfully, the house behind him does not have anything too spooky in it. Just a cat looking at what's going on outside. Panel 4 Gustopher carefully chooses his words and explains his inspiration for his fine taco costume. Gustopher: I'm a taco because I like tacos. The cat in the window appears to be doing something. Smiling? And shadowy tendrils are erupting beneath the cat. Okay, I'm sorry. This is too spooky. The eyeballs were bad enough. I'm leaving.

Up to Something - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 It's a pleasant day at kindergarten. Ember is chatting with Bolero and Grace about raisins and Teacher seems to be straightening up some things. He's carrying a box of salt. Why? I don't know. The teachers in this city are weird. Don't question it. Along the wall is a banner that has "THE ALPHABET" and "NUMBERS" written across it several times. The actual words, not the alphabet and numbers. Someone was yelled at over this. Teacher (thinking): Ember has been behaving all day. Ember: RAISINS! Panel 2 Teacher narrows his eyes and watches the situation carefully. Teacher (thinking): She's up to something. Teacher doesn't want Ember to know that he's onto her and plans to continue acting as if he hasn't noticed anything. Panel 3 Bolero begins to speak but Ember can't pay attention because she's distracted by Teacher. She looks up at him and carefully considers the situation. Ember (thinking): TEACHER HASN'T BEEN UPSET WITH ME TODAY. Panel 4 Ember narrows her eyes and has a realization. Ember (thinking): HE'S UP TO SOMETHING. Ember continues to do nothing so that Teacher will not suspect that she's onto him.

Top Shelf - Gator Days
Top Shelf - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Seth is doing some grocery shopping. The top shelf of the aisle is filled with cans labelled "CAN of FOOD" and there are cans below it labelled "NOT FOOD". I'm pretty sure it's an actual aisle you would find in an actual grocery store. Seth is trying to reach the top shelf but he's unfortunately just a little too short for it. Panel 2 Seth struggles to reach up a little further to grab himself a "CAN of FOOD". These can's are unfortunately stacked in a staggered manner with each can on top being supported by two below it. This grocery store is pretty lousy. Seth is wondering why they even shop there. Panel 3 Daryl approaches and easily grabs a can for Seth. Daryl: I got this, babe. Seth is filled with a mixture of aggravation and gratitude. Panel 4 Seth holds his "CAN of FOOD" tightly. He has to voice is frustration. Seth: I want to be tall. Daryl: You're cute the way you are. Seth: I don't want to be cute! I want to reach things.

Scary Nights - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Hannah and Olivia are on a bench watching the night sky. The stars are out and the sky is beautiful but Olivia voices a concern. Olivia: It's kind of scary. Panel 2 Hannah looks out in the furthest reaches of space and takes it all in. She finds that she agrees with Olivia. Hannah: Yeah, Space is so vast and inhospitable. It's like our planet is surrounded by an endless void of death. Panel 3 Hannah looks over to Olivia who is starting to look terrified. It is at this point that Hannah realizes that Olivia probably wasn't thinking about space. Panel 4 Hannah acknowledges that she probably misread Olivia's concern. Now would probably be a good time to go inside. Hannah: You were talking about the dark. Olivia: Now I'm scared of two things.

Panel 2 August holds up his phone to show Gustopher. It's a picture of himself at a party. He's waving at the camera with his hand blocking a random person in the background. A hand can be seen on his shoulder. He's drinking something from a cup. What is he drinking? Don't worry about it. Relax. Please don't look at the other photos from that night. August: That's me. Gustopher: You look like a different person. Panel 3 August looks more closely at the photo. He begins to spot and fixate on all the things that have changed over the year. August: Yeah, I've put on weight. My posture is worse. I have less energy. Panel 4 August begins to stare in the distance and feel how relentless the march of time has become. Gustopher is oblivious to all of this and is focused the single detail that caused him to mention that his dad looks different. August: Time keeps moving and I keep aging. Gustopher: You changed your glasses!

Cups - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Gustopher has a thirst for sweet delicious water. Unfortunately, he is only able to find the red cup. This will not do. In background is a box of "Sugar O's". The box depicts a bowl with a mouth and a tongue hanging out of that mouth. This has nothing to do with the comic. I just thought I'd point it out. I think it would be pretty unsettling to eat from a bowl with a mouth. Anyway, I'm getting very off topic. Gustopher: DAD! Where's my blue cup? August: In the dishwasher. Use the red one. Panel 2 Gustopher can't believe this suggestion. The red cup is for juice. He's only ever used the red cup for juice. He wouldn't want to break the rules. Gustopher: BUT RED IS FOR JUICE! BLUE IS FOR WATER! August: They can both hold water. Panel 3 Gustopher looks down at his red cup and considers this for a moment. He guesses that there really isn't a good reason he couldn't use his red cup for water. Gustopher: Oh. Panel 4 Gustopher proceeds to get water from the fridge. This is a different fridge from the one that has appeared in previous comics. It's one of those fancy fridges where you can get water directly from the fridge. Technology is amazing. Gustopher: Someday I'll understand how the world works.

Kris (with a wink): Thanks, Daddy! Panel 2 Daryl (thinking): Daddy? Daryl is bewildered at this. Daddy? Why would anyone call him Daddy? He's not old enough to be a Daddy. Is he? What even is this? Panel 3 Daryl is at home in bed next to his sleeping husband. He's still obsessing over the whole Daddy situation. Daddy? Seriously? Really? Is he looking that old? Daryl (thinking): Daddy... Really? Panel 4 Daryl is watching the sun set and still feeling awkward about the whole Daddy thing. Where has his youth gone? He feels like he's still kid. Putting in the Time - Gator Days Transcript Panel 1 Olivia and Gustopher are awaiting the results of a recent test. Olivia is a little nervous and decides to see how Gustopher is doing. Olivia: How are you feeling about the test? Gustopher: Confident. Panel 2 Gustopher is feeling pretty relaxed. He's pretty sure he did alright. He spent a long time studying last night and his cats were there. Cats obviously improve studying ability. Everyone knows that. Gustopher: I studied all night! I didn't understand it all but I put im the time. Panel 3 Gustopher: I'm sure I did- Gustopher's eyes are instantly drawn to the grade that's right above his name, Gustopher Green. He scored a 66 and received a D. It's a passing grade at his school but just barely. Panel 4 Gustopher is hit by a wave of disappointment. It just doesn't seem right. He spent the time studying. He feels that he should have done so much better. All he can do now is sit in the moment and let one sound escape his mouth. Gustopher: Oh.
