I feel like the best games are when both are a possibility. Death is a possibility when doing deadly things, and you could still have dramatic consequences in the fiction. Like I said, both sides of the same coin. The L5R game I'm in has almost brought me to tears twice, out of combat.

Oh I have done both in the game... my samurai has true love for his wife and children... but he won't get into a duel over mere pride heck he would risk dishonor to see his kids again.
