There is a large tree-filled park/square directly behind the cameraman. Also they’ve added some tree since this photo was taken, there are now plants and trees in pots throughout Market Street.

It is a little odd especially when you consider that almost all of their marketing and signage is in French but I think the sign is for tourists. Also strange that the English sign leads to their Facebook page which is entirely in French lol.

For reference, this is the MCG in Melbourne. The largest stadium in the southern hemisphere (100k seats). Zero parking lots around it. Just gardens. The train station goes directly into the stadium so people don’t have to drive anywhere near it. They close the roads around it so you have to walk.
