This is no longer a serious country. Journalists and politicians screaming about the 'impression' Reeves gave and how black is a black hole rather than the failure to reform tax and welfare to make the economy work.

Nearly missed the play button on this graphic.
Over 100 mm of rain could fall across exposed hills in Wales and western England by the end of Monday - around half of what would typically be expected to fall throughout the whole of December 🌧️

Flooding and disruption is expected so take care if travelling ⚠️

When Mark Carney sets specific goals for Canada to "diversify away" from its reliance on the US—making headlines in Canada but not the US—hear that for what it is: Close partners and allies looking elsewhere for better friends.

This is the silent way that the US loses its pointless trade war.

Just left the house and jumped on a bus. Angry blokes with access to a cherry picker have been busy again overnight. Barely a lamppost in Braintree without a flag attached, successfully communicating the message “you live near some racists”, which of course I knew already

I mean monthly...even if 13 payments not 12 (I see your "every 4 weeks" thing)... at 99p is still unexpectedly significantly cheaper than your annual offer of £15. Cheaper by the dozen? 😏

Things used in everyday life are the real archaeological treasures! These sewing #needles were made from animal bone some 15,000 years ago. Some designs simply don't need to be improved, because form and functions were perfectly matched from the start. Form follows function! 🧵1/2

Years ago, my colleagues at Business Insider and I tracked YouTuber “cancellation” arcs. What we found is that for many entertainers, “cancellation” actually sets the stage for a redemption arc, one that can raise their profile higher than ever. It wasn’t career-ending. It was fuel.

Dismal framing. Every aspect of most asylum seekers’ lives is controlled & paid for by the Home Office. They can’t work, are told where to live & have no autonomy or dignity. So they aren’t *choosing* to use taxis & don’t need to be “banned” from doing so. The HO just needs to get its act in order.
Government to ban asylum seekers from using taxis
The ban is set to come in February and any exemptions will have to be signed off by the Home Office.

Ending 2 child cap offers no help to those hit by OBC. No family in Wales with 3 kids escapes but add that to the new per-child childcare support and it's a real jump in support if you're earning over 16 x NLW. The better-off in-work numbers can look huge.

The failure to lift the overall benefit cap means that for many of the poorest families (unless already exempt) they will see NO increase to UC as a result of today's announcement regarding the removal of the two child policy. As previously ranted about - probably both here and elsewhere.
