Crumb shot of loaf #1 … definitely Under fermented and dense as suspected. Crust is ok but the crumb is laughable. Tasted a bit off.

Gonna keep trying.

First #sourdough loaf.
Not a great success but I am learning.

Couldn’t get a proper shape and still too hydrated. Came out flat and heavy feeling. Too dense.

Less water next time, and more fermenting time.

I’ll nail this eventually 😮‍💨

Open to tips!

#Sourdough round 2
500 g bread flour
13 grams salt
130 grams starter
325 grams water

100 slap and folds and 4 sets of stretch and folds.

Dough feels a lot more together.

First loaf try was a fail. The recipe I used somehow overhydrated my dough and it will not proof or shape properly. Feeding again today and going to keep trying this weekend. Meh 🫤.

“The face of dough” my #sourdough starter has decided he cannot be contained. He’s only 18 days old and quadrupling after feedings. So it’s time to make my first loaf. Lots of work still to do to set this dough up to baking… wish me luck! More Updates tomorrow.

Made some Rosemary and Malden salt Focaccia this morning for Father’s Day at my girlfriend’s parent’s house and bottled up more Limoncello.

I hope they like it! This one really bubbled up. I’m pretty happy with it.

Think I may name her Fizzgig after The Dark Crystal. would LOVE a name still based on the Doctor Who. Maybe The Doctor since the Doctor always wanted to be a ginger. Open to suggestions and Puns!

Been keeping myself pretty busy making stuff from scratch. Focaccia, Artisan bread, Limoncello, Vanilla Extract, also made some Panna Cotta and have lots of plans to try pasta making, a ginger bug for sodas, bagels, sourdough, and much more.

Sourdough Day 11.
#TheFaceofDough doubled for the first time, so I rewarded him with a new home.

This is a Goldie by sourhouse.co. A #Sourdough warmer which keeps him in the “Goldilocks” zone of 75* to 82F*. It even looks like #TheFaceofBoe jar. 🤣.
