Good news in today’s retro Dons press cutting as King Joey Harper indicates that he is staying with the club after some interest from ‘Common Market’ clubs.

Retrieved this from the loft the other day. Not seen it for many years. It’s a great read and would bring a tear to a glass eye.

Here’s another album that my brother or me had when we were young, but has been misplaced on the intervening years. Picked up another copy a few months ago so #nowplaying is Slade with ‘Play it Loud’. I was a huge fan of them when I was young.

Just had a reminder from Concert Archives that on this day in 2008 I was at the P&J arena in Aberdeen to see The Stereophonics. Can’t tell you if it was a good gig as my daughter hurt her back in the mosh pit after 10 minutes and I had to take her home. Gutted.

More retro Dons press cuttings from the same period as I posted the other day, I think.

Not played this for a good while so #nowplaying is the peerless David Bowie with ‘Hunky Dory’. What an amount of first class tunes there are here. Maybe not lauded as much as some of his other albums, but it is terrific.

Final one from my Dons #pinbadges archive is this absolute classic ‘Aberdeen FC - OK’. So seventies. Love it. All that’s missing is ‘ya bass..!!’ 😂

Retro Dons press cutting for today is ‘A show of the colours’ as Dons fans gather at the station to get their trains to the cup final. Not sure which year this could be….1967 ?

Last but one from my Dons #pinbadges archive is this underwhelming effort. It’s a bit ‘meh’.

Seeing as I posted the last of my teenage #pinbadges yesterday I thought I’d let you see the whole collection curated for your delectation. And no, I can’t explain the presence of Piglet. Enjoy…

Last one from my teenage archive of #pinbadges is this stunner of Siouxsie & the Banshees ‘Join Hands’ - bought at the ill fated gig at Aberdeen Capitol in September 1979. Maybe quite rare due to the tour being abandoned after this gig.

Just had a reminder from Concert Archives that on this day in 2008 I was at Aberdeen Music Hall to see Feeder. Seen them a couple of times and they are a fantastic live band.

Just a couple more to come from my teenage archive of #pinbadges - today’s was a freebie from Smash Hits magazine, featuring ’Smash Hits’ funnily enough.

Today we went to @peacockandtheworm.bsky.social to see the Jamie Reid ‘Eternal Ecstacy’ exhibition. Worthwhile visit and very impressed with the knowledgable chap giving us the lowdown on Jamie’s connection with the Peacock printmaker.

Today’s retro Dons press cutting is an absolute classic showing the ‘Ultras Aberdeen’ of the day at the joint station heading for a cup final or something. “Aberdeen - cha cha cha”. Wild days..!!

Today from my teenage collection of #pinbadges is another political one - ‘I didn’t vote Tory’. Not sure I was even old enough to vote when I had this, but the sentiment still stands even all these years later.

Two completely contrasting gigs at the weekend. Friday at the Armadillo was ABC with the Lexicon Orchestra and Saturday was Hue & Cry at the Lemon Tree. Both fantastic gigs for different reasons. The orchestra backing for ABC was outstanding and the intimacy of Hue & Cry was brilliant.
