I think any social media platform will invariably reflect society as a whole. It seems insulting, rude and offensive opinions are unfortunately prevalent in all forms of media.

I prefer not to use or like to read profanity when using social media. I agree, remonstrating directly with those who use offensive language is not the way forward. We can choose to unfollow or ignore anything that offends. Personally I think there are other ways to express anger or disappointment.

Why was the caller so angry about everything? This is exactly the problem with public discourse and discussion these days. Social media and traditional outlets promote sensationalism and encourage division, using slogans and labels to divide us and prevent us seeking common ground or compromise.
