Gap between gym battle episodes: 18. Can't say it's been all filler, Ash caught a new Pokèmon, one of his evolved, & introduced characters that will reappear later on in this series. Haven't actually started this but Ash vs Korrina has definitely been built up...

Okay, I've been noticing that Team Rocket is doing this habit of randomly rhyming. Is this translating a bit they do in the original Japanese or does TCPi think this is something they should do in the dub?

Uh guys, can you wait like 2 episodes? Nothing personal, but Ash is about to have his gym battle & so far the focus be entirely on that has been pretty good. We really don't need you bumbling around to make conflict.

Despite the "To Be Continued", this is the last we see of this mirror universe & Team Rocket just show up in the next episode like nothing happened. I know it's not the first time they've been a situation where escape is impossible, this might be the most extreme. A wizard did it.

Mirror universe Team Rocket doesn't show up until the very end and I feel like we were cheated out of seeing how a heroic version of them would look like beyond a gag at the end of the episode. Mirror!Meowth sounds like Dudley Do-Right & it's amazing.

I liked the detail that this mirror universe is one with the saturation & contrast are tweaked. Put more effort in this AU being different from the main reality than most multiverse stories these day.

Oh hey, it’s this episode I once alluded to on the other site while watching Journeys. And honestly, it’s even more random than I thought. I was just looking up random plots to have Ash bring up. I didn’t expect it to be a Bizarro World plot with the AU Ash ended up in.

Korrina was less a temporary companion for Ash & more like the temporary main character since the episodes while she was with Ash & co was her trying to master her Lucario after unlocking Mega Evolution. Kinda felt like Ash & Pikachu were side-characters in their own show.

I'm sorry, but is that a gotdang hovercart and they're showing it without any fanfare? I know the technology in this show was already odd in the second episode when video chats were treated as a common thing while dial-up internet was the norm when it aired, but still.

Apparently in the Japanese version, the episode title card would alter between Ash, Serena, Clemont, & Bonnie depending on who's the spotlight and for these next few episodes, Korrina would be added. Annoyingly, TPCi apparently didn't want that uniqueness for the dub.
