But if you have trouble with that concept, there are a few things to try. 1) Get moving! Sing, dance, exercise. Movement in the body is a way to help emotions work their way through. 2) check out an Emotions Wheel, which can help you understand physical sensations and emotions together.

I often quote "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" for this. We can't go over it, we can't go under it, Oh no, we'll have to go through it! Feelings will resolve themselves if they are allowed to be felt.

It's common to try and protect ourselves from feelings by intellectualising them, which gives us language to describe without experiencing them in our bodies. Feelings, to resolve, require physical acts of feeling.

3/ And when we do unmask and let ourselves indulge, we unlock things like creative states of flow, playfulness in social interactions, and access to emotional processing! The things that NT folks get from mindfulness.

2/ sometimes we struggle to lean into what our brain really wants because of learned behaviours, and so we avoid our needs and do things like doom scroll instead. I've listened to "The Challenge" on repeat 20 times today #Epicthemusical.
