🥚 Watched #AngelsEgg in the theatre and didn’t really like it.

🌧️ I loved the visuals though. It felt like I was watching a painting come to life.

I went to the @metmuseum.org & asked to be directed to the Assyrian art.

❌ The first worker sent me to the Islamic art section.

❌ The second told me no Assyrian art was on display due to construction, which was untrue.

I found Mesopotamian art on my own.

The ancestors called me.

Rihanna’s very pregnant bejeweled body in Paris or everyday people, her images document our lives, shaping pop culture for five decades and counting. Leibovitz’s new edition of WOMEN, a project she first started in 1999, continues to celebrate the power & individuality of women.

✨ Why is the year 6775? The first temple to the god Ashur, who Assyrians are named after, is said to have been erected in 4750 B.C. Take 4750+2025 and you get the current year, 6775!

💐 Happy Assyrian New Year 6775!

🌷 Photos are from my first trip to Assyria in 2022. While the New Year parade in northern Iraq this year was met with hatred& violence, I know Assyrians will remain on their Indigenous lands for 6,775 years to come! You cannot break us.

"We are the richest country in the history of the world. There is no excuse for people dying young because of the financial stress that they deal with every day."

💡 Did you know that the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri has two Assyrian sphinxes on site?

✨ The Memorial was first designed in the 1920s with an Egyptian architecture revival in mind.

"The head of a Lamassu statue, an #Assyrian deity often depicted as a winged-bull with a human head, lies in the archaeological site of #Nimrud, south of #Mosul, on January 3, 2025."

How disheartening to see the dismal state of #Iraq's antiquities.

Saint Odisho Monastery in northern #Iraq is pictured.

The monastery was previously bombed and destroyed by both Saddam Hussein and Kurdish forces.

The #Assyrian community in the diaspora raised funds multiple times for its reconstruction and repairs.
