Millions of baby sheep are cut around their genitals and tails in a practice called "live lamb cutting". It causes immense pain for the sheep, and the fashion industry is directly fueling it.

In pain, starving and unable to move for days, over 10 million baby sheep in Australia, as young as 2 weeks old, suffer for fashion every year. These poor lambs have skin around their tails and genitals cut off without any pain relief -- often an area bigger than the palm of a hand. The wounds take weeks to heal, get infected and are immensely painful -- a torturous practice that has long been proven unnecessary.

Some of the biggest household names like H&M, Hugo Boss, and Patagonia have already made strong commitments to source cruelty-free wool, proving that it is possible to put animal welfare first. But influential industry players like GAP, Michael Kors and Superdry, still lag behind -- abandoning compassion for cash.

With our global community of millions, we can build an international movement to force fashion giants to choose compassion over cruelty to protect lambs from mutilation and to demand live lamb cutting bans worldwide:

Live lamb cutting isn’t necessary. Many Australian farmers have already ditched the cruel practice, showing that humane, pain-free alternatives are possible.

Despite this, live lamb cutting exists because wool is the most popular animal fabric in fashion and over half of global wool comes from Australian mutilated lambs. And that’s why the Australian industry u-turned on their decision to phase it out more than 20 years ago -- putting profit over animal welfare.

But public pressure can save millions of lambs from mutilation. Many producers are already phasing it out, while more than 140 global brands have signed a letter to the Australian wool industry to end the practice by 2030. Today, we can make big players of the industry choose compassion over cruelty:

Tell the DOE: Halt professional degree reclassification!

Think of a nurse, therapist, or teacher in your life. Maybe that person is yourself. Now, recall the lengths and hardships that person had to go through to get where they are in their career, and all that they sacrifice to perform their job every single day.

Donald Trump's Department of Education (DOE) is proposing a policy change that would make the pathway to these professions even more challenging than they already are, and cheapen the sacrifices made to attain training and credentialing.

That's right. The DOE is considering reclassifying degrees for nursing, counseling, accounting, and social work as "graduate" degrees, instead of "professional" degrees. This change in status would cut in HALF the amount of loans students can take out for these degrees, and it would delegitimize these women-dominated fields.

Choosing a career path, getting an education, taking out loans, and paying off student debt already feels like a complex puzzle. Now, under Trump's Big Blasphemous Bill, that puzzle is about to become even more complicated--because the bill is changing the way that loans can be taken out and paid back, as well as changing the value of certain training and professions.

The new system, called the Repayment Action Plan (RAP), will cap annual loans at $20,500 for graduate students and $50,000 for professional students. Previously, borrowers could borrow up to the cost of attendance. Now, instead of graduate students in professions like nursing, teaching, public health, and social work being able to get low-interest loans from the federal government, they will be forced to take out private loans, which are more likely to have higher interest rates and less flexible repayment options.

The Trump administration claims that this move is an effort to force universities to lower tuition costs. But considering that this move largely impacts women, it sure looks a lot like this is the actual motive: The Trump administration gets to save money, private loan companies get to make money, and working people--namely women--get put in further debt and are stripped of professional respect.

This is a raw deal for us. If you feel the same way, please add your name now, and then share this petition with your communities.

In addition to being insulting and financially disruptive, this proposed reclassification could also negatively impact client care, lower the quality of American public education, and worsen staffing shortages for nurses, teachers, and social workers. In order to have good quality care in these professions, we need a good quality pipeline of well-trained professionals. The DOE's reclassification risks blocking that pipeline, especially in the communities that are in most need of services. Simply put: A smaller, less diverse, and undervalued workforce will lead to worse care.

Already, professionals like nurses, teachers, social workers, and public health professionals are significantly overworked and underpaid. We need to move forward, not backward, to make sure that these essential workforces are well-staffed, well-respected, and well-compensated. The health and well-being of our entire country depends on it.

Whether that's yourself, a parent, a neighbor, or someone who's taught or cared for you, people who do these jobs matter--a LOT. And while we're not even close currently to these professions being as respected as they should be, the DOE's proposed reclassification would send us dangerously backwards.

Yet new reporting shows the Trump administration is pushing a plan that would eliminate nearly 15 million visits to Social Security field offices every year.

It’s called MOP Up Michigan, and it’s a statewide ballot initiative that’ll finally ban regulated utility monopolies like DTE and Consumers Energy from pouring cash into our politics.

For too long, these utility giants have poured millions into state-level races to influence laws, dodge accountability, and stall the transition to cleaner, more affordable energy. They use loopholes that let dark-money groups run unlimited ads without telling us who’s paying for them.

So-called "law and order president" Donald Trump has pardoned rioters who stormed the Capitol, billionaires who funded terrorists, sex-traffickers, drug dealers, and criminals guilty of unspeakable crimes.

A new report shows that many of them are back in jail.

Donald Trump has issued over 1,700 presidential pardons so far, including around 1,500 violent rioters involved in the January 6th insurrection.

He pardoned Edward Kelley for his actions on January 6th. Now, he's back in jail for conspiring to murder an FBI agent who investigated the attack.

Another rioter, Zachary Alon, was pardoned by Trump only to be convicted of a home invasion and theft.

At least three rioters pardoned have gone back to jail for child abuse and sex-crimes.

This madness has to stop.

Demand OpenAI investigate Larry Summers' impact.

The Epstein files fallout is in full swing. Most recently, Lawrence "Larry" Summers (former Treasury secretary and Harvard president) announced that he was resigning from OpenAI's board. This occurred after Congress released emails showing that Summers regularly corresponded with the late, disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

But Summers just stepping back is not enough. OpenAI leadership has an obligation to open a probe into Summers' influence on OpenAI policies and the development of ChatGPT and Sora.

Summers resigned as Harvard's president after making sexist comments about women academics. But he continued his sexist charades in private emails with Epstein, which implied that women have lower IQs than men. Summers' emails also asked Epstein for relationship advice, complaining about being rebuked by a woman, and lamenting about cancel culture for men.

The email exchanges are both revelatory and deeply horrifying. Since the release of the emails, Summers has said that his association with Epstein post-conviction was "a major error of judgement." But is knowingly corresponding with a sex offender for six years really just an "error of judgment"? We don't think so.

It's important that Summers is pulling back from public life, but it is simply not enough, especially given the influence that he has had on our financial and digital worlds. Sign now to demand that OpenAI investigate Summers' impact on its policies and technology.

OpenAI's technology, ChatGPT, is becoming more embedded in all of our lives. It is being used to make decisions about our government, healthcare, and justice system. Its rollout over the past years has been messy and problematic. ChatGPT has been shown to have gender and racial bias, and to be riddled with sycophancy and prone to inflaming hallucinations. OpenAI is embroiled in multiple lawsuits for ChatGPT's role in enabling suicide among youth. And AI-enabled psychosis is a growing mental health concern, driven by the increasing ubiquity of AI without sufficient guardrails.

Now, OpenAI is rolling out new features like ChatGPT for teens and erotica AI. The newest version of the AI tool Sora, which is essentially ChatGPT for video, was introduced this fall and is already raising concerns about sexism and perversion. These developments only raise the stakes for the ethics of OpenAI's tech development.

Given that Summers was on OpenAI's board for two years during the rise of ChatGPT, OpenAI leadership has an obligation to open a probe into the influence of Summers on OpenAI policies and AI development. The fact that an Epstein confidant was influencing the most important and ubiquitous tech of our lifetime is nothing short of terrifying, especially for women and children. It must be investigated.

Sarah here with some important news.

This week the House voted to release the full Epstein files.

I voted yes because Epstein’s victims — and the American people — deserve truth, transparency, and justice. Anyone involved must be held accountable, and we must make clear that no one is above the law, not even those with wealth, connections, or power.

If you’re confused by the whiplash from House Republicans, you’re not alone. After months of loudly demanding the release of the files, they suddenly reversed course once they learned Donald Trump’s name appeared in them.

Then just as suddenly, despite going to extreme lengths like blocking a duly elected Congresswoman from representing her constituents for 40+ days just to avoid the final signature on a vote, they changed their minds again.

Still, no matter how we got here, this vote is a win for transparency, accountability, and justice for victims.

I’ve been pushing for these files to be released since day one because every survivor deserves justice, and the American people deserve a government that doesn’t protect the powerful and well-connected. But this fight is far from over.

Given past efforts to limit or delay disclosure to protect Trump, there is real concern about political interference.

Because remember: Trump had the power this entire time to release these files without an act of Congress. He’s only doing it now because the headlines were getting worse.

So, we cannot slow down. We need to demand full transparency now.

Israeli figures warn state has 'lost control' as West Bank settlers attack

In the last month since the so-called ceasefire was brokered in Gaza, settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has spiraled out of control.

Gangs of Israeli settlers have been allowed to act with impunity, beating up Palestinians, looting and destroying their homes and farmland, and even destroying a sacred mosque.

And it’s not just these extremist gangs — the Israeli government has done its part to accelerate the illegal annexation of Palestinian land in the West Bank.

The Washington Post writes: “While approving housing and other infrastructure projects for Israeli settlements at a record rate, the government has also increased demolition of Palestinian property while deprioritizing investigations into attacks on Palestinians,”

This is a story that has been playing out for years, but the Gaza genocide has completely emboldened Israeli settlers and has allowed them to escalate their attacks. Israel was able to act recklessly violent and break international law left and right in Gaza — why not do the same in the West Bank?

We have to remember that all of this violence and terrorizing of Palestinians is in service of the ultimate goal of annexing all of the West Bank into Israeli territory. Little by little, village by village, the Israeli settler movement and the Israeli government that supports them seek to push Palestinians off their land.

Now it’s up to the international community, and especially the United States — which provides Israel with weapons and aid despite its continued flouting of international law — to speak out and put pressure on Israel to finally crack down on these violent gangs and halt the annexation of the West Bank.

Tell Harvard to suspend professor Larry Summers while it investigates his Epstein ties:

Thanks to the courage, strength, and persistence of a thousand survivors, the names of powerful men who participated in and enabled Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's child abuse and trafficking network are coming to light.

One of those men is Lawrence "Larry" Summers, a former treasury secretary under President Bill Clinton and a former president of Harvard University. Summers has also held key leadership roles in the Obama administration, the finance sector, and prominent tech companies like OpenAI.

Summers, who has long held very harmful views on women and Black people, had a cozy relationship with Epstein. In fact, Summers continued asking Epstein for romantic advice and money for years, even after Epstein's horrendous crimes came to light. Summers has announced he is resigning from his public positions, and Harvard University has said it will launch an investigation into its affiliates' ties to Epstein. But Summers will continue to teach at Harvard. This is unacceptable.

Tell Harvard University: Anyone who knows of or enables child sex trafficking must be held accountable. Suspend Summers immediately while you conduct your investigation of his ties to the late serial child sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein.

Any cover or credibility granted to Summers is completely unacceptable.

Students shouldn't have to learn from a teacher like Summers, who has not only rubbed elbows with the most notorious child sex trafficker of our time but long held harmful views on women and Black people.

In 2002, while he was president of Harvard, Summers forced out the African American scholar Cornel West, after smearing West's scholarship and left-leaning politics, including West's ties to the civil rights and social justice-oriented Reverend Al Sharpton. "I said to myself, I am a free and self-respecting black man and I will not put up with that kind of attitude," West told the Harvard Crimson about leaving Harvard.

Also, while he was Harvard's president in 2005, Summers drew fire for stating that biological differences between men and women were the reason for men's overwhelming representation in the mathematics and sciences.

At the time, Summers and his allies simply doubled down on his comments and further gaslit women. Richard Freeman, an economist at Harvard and the London School of Economics, told the Guardian, "Some people took offence because they were very sensitive. It does not seem to me insane to think that men and women have biological differences."

West's departure alone should have been a good enough reason for Harvard to cut ties with Summers. But it was not.

Black people and women should not be subjected to Summers as a teacher. Harvard must suspend Summers while it investigates his ties to Epstein.

Summers did eventually leave Harvard, but he did so on his own terms. Summers resigned as Harvard president in 2006 after being the subject of a no confidence vote by the faculty of arts and sciences. The faculty voted that way because of Summers' falling out with women, students, staff, and West, as well as his problematic ties with the Harvard economics professor Andrei Shleifer, who in 2004 was found liable for fraud by a federal court under the False Claims Act. Shleifer, by the way, is still a professor at Harvard.

Harvard had another opportunity to sever its ties with Summers. But yet again, Harvard failed to do the right thing, allowing him to continue teaching--even after a 2020 probe by the university found that Epstein had visited the Harvard campus 40 times following his 2008 sex crime conviction. Even now, Summers is still teaching at Harvard after he was named in recently released Epstein emails, and while the university investigates his ties to Epstein. This is beyond unacceptable.

According to news accounts, Summers sought romantic advice from Epstein for years. He also helped secure significant financial contributions for his wife's poetry foundation from Epstein and his billionaire financier associate Leon Black. Summers is married to Elisa New, a poet who also teaches at Harvard.

All of this smells, and is endemic to a rotting system that continues to reward rich and powerful people with plum positions--no matter their icky behavior. Women, survivors--all of us!--deserve better.

Tell Harvard University: Suspend Summers from teaching while you complete your investigation of Summers' ties to Epstein.

The Trump Administration just took the first step towards reopening sacred public lands around Chaco Canyon to oil and gas drilling.

Right now, they’re considering revoking the 20-year drilling ban that community leaders fought hard to secure. That protection could now be rolled back — or completely erased.

Let’s be clear: This is about protecting identity, ancestry, and our obligation to honor sacred public lands.

For generations, Pueblo and Tribal communities have prayed, gathered, and walked the paths of Chaco. These lands hold stories written in stone.

As Secretary of the Interior, I worked to protect Chaco and ban new drilling within 10 miles of the site for 20 years — a victory shaped by community voices. Now, Trump is threatening to unravel everything we fought for.

If he gets away with this, it could open hundreds of square miles of land to drilling in New Mexico. That would do irreversible damage to the landscape, poison our water, and desecrate sites tied to the spiritual and cultural foundations of our state’s ancestors.

Megyn Kelly just went on air and minimized Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse of children.

On her SiriusXM show, Kelly questioned whether Epstein was a pedophile. She did so by trying to split hairs about what actually makes someone a pedophile--claiming that Epstein "wasn't into, like, eight-year-olds," but preferred "15-year old girls" who were "barely legal.”

Let's be absolutely clear: There is no acceptable distinction here. Jeffrey Epstein sexually abused children. Full stop. Any attempt to minimize that abuse is unconscionable. It’s time for SiriusXM to drop Megyn Kelly.

More than 1,000 women, who were young girls during the time of their abuse, survived Epstein’s child sex-trafficking and abuse network. Survivors of Epstein’s abuse are gaining ground in their fight for justice. A few days ago, Democrats released three of Epstein’s emails, one of which claimed that Trump spent “hours” with one of the trafficked girls at Epstein’s home. Now, calls for Congress to release the Epstein files are growing louder, and House leadership could call a vote on the Epstein Files Transparency Act as early as next week. Thankfully, after weeks of campaigning by UltraViolet and others, Rep. Adelita Grijalva was sworn in, making this vote possible.

We don’t need voices like Kelly’s to muddy the waters right now or ever, and we certainly don’t need SiriusXM to give her a platform to minimize Epstein’s crimes. Kelly is clearly playing a political game. We need to make it clear that child sexual abuse is not a game. That’s why we’ve been adamant about demanding the release of ALL files so that every complicit person is revealed and held accountable.

It’s important to remember that when we take action to expose abusers and create a cost for their enablers, as well as to support survivors and back brave whistleblowers, we create the conditions to root out sexual predators like Epstein and his accomplices and disrupt rape culture.

By taking action today, you’ll help to show media companies like SiriusXM that platforming pedophile apologists is not just wrong, but also bad for business. Together, we can and must end rape culture and create consequences for its champions.

Tell TikTok: Stop Profiting off Predators:

We are disgusted. Recent reporting found that TikTok Shop is selling GPS trackers marketed to stalkers and abusers.

Simply hosting this deplorable content is one thing, but profiting from it? A whole different ballgame. Take action now to demand that TikTok remove these ads immediately!

The fact that these GPS trackers are being pushed to assailants is not subtle. Video advertisements for the trackers have voice-overs explicitly encouraging viewers to secretly track a romantic partner, with captions like “Don’t you ever wonder about her? Maybe she’s got a booty call” and “"If your girl says she’s just out with friends every night, you’d better slap one of these on her car." The fact that the videos are reaching their target audience is evidenced by the comments. One says, “I bought some and put it on cars of girls I find attractive at the gym.”

The word “horrifying” doesn’t even cover what is happening here.

Sign now to demand that TikTok’s head of advertising policy remove these abuse-enabling ads immediately.

You might think that these videos are fringe, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Some of the video advertisements have millions of views, and TikTok Shop’s own metrics show that over 100,000 of the GPS devices have been sold through their platform. TikTok’s ads aren’t just normalizing controlling, abusive behavior, they’re enabling it on a massive scale.

“Stalkerware”--also known as spouseware or creepware--is a means of technology-facilitated abuse that includes any type of tool or app that can be used to secretly spy on someone. Often, these tools are marketed as legitimate anti-theft or even parental monitoring apps, but in practice they are used for something much darker: to gain control over a victim.

Tech-facilitated abuse is a growing phenomenon, one that social media companies must start taking extremely seriously. One report found that 23% of respondents described encountering some form of online stalking, and 10% reported having had their location tracked, either nonconsensually or through coercion.

Abusers do this to:

Gain and maintain power and control over their victims with little detection.

Take away privacy from their victims.

Intentionally generate paranoia in their victims.

Make it harder for their victims to have a separate life from them.

Discover or try to stop any plans their victims may have to leave the relationship.

In fact, the most dangerous time for a survivor of abuse is when they are trying to leave the relationship, because it can cause the abuser to retaliate in harmful ways. Add a GPS tracker into the mix, and those existing risks skyrocket. Stalking is a top 10 risk factor for intimate partner homicide, increasing the risk of homicide threefold when compared with situations involving abusers who don’t stalk. And the fact that TikTok users are primarily under 30 means we are signaling loud and clear to our youth that this behavior is normal, which could worsen an existing domestic abuse crisis.

It’s appalling, it’s dangerous, and it’s downright illegal in most states. We must band together as a group of survivors and allies to hold TikTok accountable. Click here to add your name to the fight!

These GPS tracker advertisements--which are coming from multiple TikTok shops and being pushed by TikTok’s algorithm--are in direct violation of the company’s own policy, which states that the platform doesn’t allow “any violent threats, promotion of violence, incitement to violence, or promotion of criminal activities that may harm people, animals, or property.”

When pressed about the issue by reporters, TikTok agreed that this content was in violation of their policies, stating that they removed the content and banned the account that posted it. But the very next day, those same reporters found a handful of nearly identical video advertisements back up on the platform. Seems to us like TikTok is trying to save face by playing whack-a-mole with these video ads when they get pressured, but are perfectly happy profiting from this sexist, abusive content when they aren’t called out for it.

Well, if they need pressure, we’ll give it to them. Sign now to tell TikTok we want any and all advertisements promoting abuse removed immediately.

Last night eight Democrats —Dick Durbin, Angus King, Catherine Cortez Masto, Jacky Rosen, Maggie Hassan, Jeanne Shaheen, John Fetterman, and Tim Kaine —voted to fund Donald Trump’s government. This is a stunning betrayal and it could not have happened without the permission and support of Democratic Party Leadership.

After 40 days of solidarity in the face of a government shutdown Democrats were winning last week. Trump's polling was at its lowest point ever. A record breaking off-year election turnout handed Trump and his MAGA minions stunning losses up and down the ballot last Tuesday. And massive turnout at the October No Kings II protest had demonstrated that the people were united and ready for change.

Then came the cowards' caucus. The climate peacocks and Democrats in name only. Late last week, Senate leadership hinted it was ready to make a deal with Trump. Schumer's initial offer was rejected, but a rump group of exactly the right number of Democrats to break a filibuster kept negotiating away our climate, communities, and healthcare.

Minority leader Schumer voted no, probably because he nearly lost his job after the last time he caved on a shutdown vote back in March - but there's no way he wasn't in on the deal. Of special note, one of the co-conspirators is Senator Dick Durbin, the Democratic Whip and Chuck Schumer's #2, whose job it is to keep the caucus together.

As a result, climate hawks and Democrats have lost all faith in Senate leadership. Sign our petition calling for Schumer and Durbin to step aside so Senate Democrats can elect a leadership team with the backbone to stand up to MAGA Republicans!

Demand Congress protect voting rights and pass the Redistricting Reform Act.

Last month, the anti-voting Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case about Louisiana’s gerrymandered maps and whether they should be changed to give more people the chance to vote. It went … about like you’d expect.

Trump’s hand picked MAGA justices appear poised to gut what’s left of the Voting Rights Act. If and when they do, Louisiana would lose both of its majority-Black congressional districts. But America will lose the last fig leaf of protection we have against racist gerrymandering.

Climate hawks are fighting fire with fire - like in the recently passed California Proposition 50. And we need you to squawk up as well to tell Congress to pass legislation that specifically outlaws racist gerrymandering. Sign here to tell Congress to pass the Redistricting Reform Act.

The Supreme Court’s decision will come in the middle of a massive redistricting fight in states across the country. Republican legislatures in states like Texas and Missouri are gerrymandering their state maps to eliminate Democratic districts by drawing themselves new seats to and maintain power in Congress. Democratic governors in states like California and Maryland are fighting back with their own redrawn maps. We appreciate the fight – but the better solution is a national ban on gerrymandering.

If the MAGA Supreme Court justices side with Louisiana Republicans, they’ll open the floodgates to a whole new round and level of racist gerrymandering. It will dilute the political power of Black and Hispanic voters and hand Republicans the chance to draw themselves 19 new House seats.

If the Supreme Court won’t stand up for our rights, Congress must instead. Rep. John Larson and Sen. Alex Padilla have introduced the Redistricting Reform Act, which would ban mid-decade redistricting efforts and require states to establish independent redistricting commissions.

Squawk up here to tell your member of Congress to end partisan, race-based gerrymandering and protect the right to vote for all voters.

In a slap in the face to survivors everywhere, an 18-year-old Oklahoma star athlete and son of a well-known and connected father has skirted accountability for multiple serious crimes of rape and strangulation. Sign the petition now to urge Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond to investigate this sweetheart deal in the Jesse Butler case and raw deal for survivors!

Despite the seriousness of Butler's crimes, which left at least two women traumatized and one almost dead by strangulation, a court reclassified the 18-year-old as a youthful offender, which means he will not serve a single day in prison. The victims' families and at least one lawmaker have pointed out that it appears that Butler received favorable treatment in comparison to other defendants accused and/or convicted of similar crimes.

"Does it absolutely smack of political favor that you're going to erase rapes and sexual crimes so you can give this guy a slap on the wrist?" State Representative J.J. Humphrey (R-Lane) rhetorically asked FOX News. "Oklahoma, better pay attention. Wake up."

We agree that the Payne County district attorney's deal with Butler smells.

Not only was Butler a star athlete at his high school but his father, Mack Butler, is the former director of football operations at Oklahoma State University, which is located in the same jurisdiction as the Payne County prosecutors who investigated and prosecuted Butler. Considering the town's pride around its sports teams and athletes, favoritism appears to be the only plausible explanation for the light sentence Butler received.

Rep. Humphrey, who plans to file a petition for a grand jury investigation into how Payne County prosecutors handled the case, rightfully pointed out how Butler's punishment of mandatory therapy and community service was not nearly as harsh as the stiff penalties other offenders have faced for their crimes.

And as many commenters in the FOX News piece noted, therapy and community service may be appropriate for youthful indiscretions like shoplifting or fighting with other boys. But for strangling a girlfriend to the point that she almost died? Raping multiple women and wrecking their lives? Threatening to kill these women if they told anyone?

As one survivor heartbreakingly wrote in a victim impact statement--a testimonial so many of us can relate to: "You didn't just strangle me with your hands--you strangled my voice, my joy, my ability to feel safe in my own body."

Oklahoma must take sexual violence seriously as the crime and traumatic life experience that it is. Tell Attorney General Drummond to immediately investigate the Payne County DA's deal with Butler!

Your Ring doorbell video feed wouldn't connect. Alexa wouldn't play your music. You couldn't log into your bank account.

It wasn’t just you. For nearly 15 hours, apps and technology that we rely on every day went down. Why? Because a vast portion of our daily technologies rely on just one corporation to keep them running--Amazon.1

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides cloud computing for thousands of applications, and combined with Microsoft and Google, controls more than 60% of the internet.2 But our concerns aren’t just about the tech monopoly. They’re about safety: When AWS goes down, it's not just an inconvenience--it’s a risk to our safety.

Just three companies should not control the functioning of the internet and internet-connected devices. We're demanding that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigate the AWS outage and determine how to protect us in the future.

When we hear the word "infrastructure," we think electric grids and highway systems--but the cloud is infrastructure, too. That digital infrastructure underpins banking, communications, emergency services, telecommunications, commerce, and much more.

When AWS went down, it affected our financial, personal, and even health services. In hospitals, with electronic health records suddenly inaccessible, healthcare providers were left making critical decisions without access to patient histories, medication lists, or other essential data.3

Scammers also put us at financial risk, taking advantage of the outage to pose as IT professionals to get access to personal data.4

No industry, never mind multiple industries, should rely on a sole infrastructure provider in order to function. It is the FTC's mandate to investigate monopolies, and the AWS outage is a clear sign that an investigation is in order.
