Agree but isn’t it kind of irrelevant ultimately? Since in the best case scenario he joins a change gov 2.0 that’s not willing to make any progress towards a 2SS anyway…

I don’t really have any respect for Herzog, but I think if he still has political ambitions of his own and there is a strong enough public reaction against the request, that might stop from granting the pardon.
He knows if ever gets back into party politics it’s not going to be as Likud leader.

As far so I can remember we don’t have any goals off of these this season, but have we even gotten a shot off? Don’t think it can be more than 1 or 2.

This is so stupid that I have to think at some level they believe it. If they were merely looking to invent an excuse to justify military action surely they could come up with something more plausible.

Maybe it will encourage Frank to find another use for him besides spamming in crosses…

Great article I read recently if you’re interested, comparing BDS to anti-apartheid sanctions. Bottom line is BDS is unlikely to be effective w/out effective resistance on the ground, and BDS activists have a lot of work to do if they want to maximize whatever impact sanctions can have.

I think ultimately if we want to end the occupation, then cooperation with orgs that facilitate/promote settlements is going to have be criticized (at the very least,) even if that’s not all those orgs do.

It was an event put on by Nfesh b’nefesh which does promote aliyah to various WB settlements. I think it is fair to criticize it on those grounds, though I believe the priority must be making sure Jews feel safe when going to synagogue.

Lapis’s support for conditioning the right to vote on military service is a hard pill to swallow. If we assume it’s all talk, this could be a positive development, if only to take votes away from Bennett.

Murdered and shamefully and falsely accused of being a terrorist in the aftermath.

One interesting illustration - at the other place Yair Golan (center left leader) likes to post pictures of the crowds that come to hear him speak. Zoom in and you can see they are virtually all 60+.

To be clear I think at this point that focusing on ending Zionism as opposed to ending the occupation is a misstep.
But I think it is equally clear there is not really any version of Zionism that is fully compatible with liberal values, again unless you empty the term of basically all meaning.

Israel could become more egalitarian, maybe much more egalitarian, while remaining Zionist. But nationalism based on blood/religion will always remain fundamentally illiberal. Sure, Zionism could be “reformed” to be compatible with liberal principles, but that would basically empty it of meaning.
November 12, 2025 at 9:33 PM
Sure, but I think the issue is that basically Israel can either be egalitarian or it can be Zionist.

What do you think a similar process would entail in Israel, if not forming a non-Zionist state?
