A number of other legacy commercial structures in the district have been lost over years as walkability gave way to the car. From this view in 2006, half of what you see here at the intersection is gone, and today at least half of the row on the south side (the row with parking behind) is burning

The century old row of shop buildings on Summer that make up the old commercial district of the historic streetcar suburb of Highland Heights is going up in smoke this morning. Utterly heartbreaking. Much work had been done in recent years rehabbing them.
