Yes it’s August 18th. Yes the heat index yesterday was over 100 degrees. Yes I am drinking iced pumpkin spice coffee and dreaming of finally being able to break out my sweatshirt collection.

Welp. Apparently I had my phone screen unlocked in my pocket while mowing the yard and accidentally texted complete gibberish to multiple people. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Pastor friends, your parishioners are listening to how you speak about health and healing from the pulpit and it absolutely directly influences their approach to their own healthcare.

Me: Has a grown-up house with a grown-up kitchen with grown-up dishes and drink glasses.

Also me: Drinks out of the same pickle jar I’ve had since seminary.

I legitimately keep forgetting that it’s Lent, so the fact that it’s Holy Week is a constant surprise. What do you mean Maundy Thursday is tomorrow!?! Ash Wednesday was just last week!!!

I’ve had entirely too many close calls with tornadoes in the last year. I’m a good Midwestern girl and big storms don’t scare me… but these last few have been something else.

I had the privilege to preside over Communion with another deacon this past Sunday. It was my first time ever saying the words of the liturgy since the Discipline gave us sacramental authority. I have one question for you elders… HOW do you all manage to not openly weep through the epiclesis? #beUMC

It’s a lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible TRex.

I’m assembling the tools to make a home printmaking studio. I miss creating art so much, and even the process of collecting the supplies is setting my spirit at ease.

In case you were ever wondering how Tolkien felt about Hitler, he called him a “vulgar and ignorant little cad” and a “ruddy little ignoramus.”

If your Christianity is offended by someone preaching care of the poor, oppressed, and marginalized to the face of the powerful, you might want to reread your Bible, specifically the prophets. oh and the psalms. oh and this guy named Jesus.

9 days into the new year and I’ve finished two books, “To the Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf and “Prairie Lotus” by Linda Sue Park. Currently working through “City of Brass” be S. A. Chakraborty and “The Woman They Could Not Silence” by Kate Moore. All excellent books!

What are you reading?

Having The Golden Girls playing on a constant loop in the background has been the best mental health choice I’ve made in a very long time.

If there’s one sentiment I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing again, it’s “you’re upset about this bad thing?! Well, what about this worse thing?!”
Can you really not express consternation without expressing contempt for someone else’s pain? Bug off.

Did I end up on a starter pack or a list? I’ve gotten a whole new influx of followers, and I’m just curious. Also, hi y’all! Welcome to *gestures vaguely* whatever this is!

Don’t mind me, just over here crying over Boromir’s death on New Year’s Day.

I just made a grilled cheese so cheesey that I had to eat it with a fork and boy howdy, what an accomplishment here in the eleventh hour of 2024.

What’s the best book you read in 2024? I’ll go first: “As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow” by Zoulfa Katouh

I may have taken my Christmas tree down yesterday but in this household, the Nativities stay up until Epiphany.

I’m watching silly ghost hunting shows, I’ve got sweatpants, a fuzzy blanket and a snoozing dog on my lap. I’m knitting a sock, drinking tea, and occasionally taking breaks to work on my crossword puzzle. I have ascended into my ultimate form.

Merry Christmas, friends! (And no, it’s not belated because it’s Christmas until Epiphany. I am absolutely on the ball and not late at all. It’s fine, we’re fine.)

I’m an intinction girl, but this gives me flashbacks to the time I was holding the chalice and saw someone put the bread in his mouth, realize, take the bread OUT OF HIS MOUTH and attempt to dip it. Tragedy was averted and I got him a new piece of bread. 🤢
Sorry y'all, I do not like intinction for communion, once you see people's knuckles going into the juice you can't unsee it. Also the chunks of bread floating in it. 😬

I would prefer common cup to intinction all day.
