A model on display in the MCC Museum demonstrates: once certain parts of the stand were removed, it could be tilted on a see-saw contraption to face the other direction. This would take around 12-13 hours to complete.

MCG in the late 1870s - The main grandstand on the right side was an engineering marvel featuring reversible seating.

Football was often played on the adjacent Yarra Park, so the stand was made reversible for watching either game on either ground.

Old #AFL #VFL football cartoons were something

Wells' take on Fitzroy sitting on top after winning their first four games in 1951. The Gorillas proceeded to lose their next game and eventually miss finals.

On this day 90 years ago, St George beat NSWRFL newcomers Canterbury 91-6 in the biggest win in premiership history. Every Saints player scored points to leave the Berries still chasing their maiden win after just their fifth premiership match. #NRL

The Lucas girls played the Khaki girls from Melbourne, at Ballarat's Eastern Oval in front of ~7000 spectators, with the locals winning 24-8. It's considered the first recorded women's Australian rules football match

#Olympic diplomas exist, and are awarded to athletes who finish in the top eight in an event at the #Olympics.

Although it has existed since the 1896 games, the certificate is so obscure that even many who earn one have not heard of it.

Dear #NRL,

Today I was fortunate enough to visit the Western world's largest Buddhist temple, and the world's largest gemstone quality jade Buddha. These are located in, of all places, some bushland near Bendigo.

Just caught onto this being the new logo for Swinton Lions. Do not like it one bit. Also there's a lot of awkward details in the lion that are screaming possible AI use.

A piece in the Canberra Times, 23 Nov 1949, describes a court order for Parramatta player-coach Vic Hey's wife Kathleen to return to her husband after she left him in 1948.

Kathleen had allegedly claimed their children were being turned to "future criminals".
