300 likes is actually one of my top liked posts and will be on display at the Iowa State Fair this year so I'll still take that as a win.

I got extremely lucky last night at Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge. I got out of my car and looked to the east and 3 short eared owls and a harrier were flying around hunting.

This buck was circling me to try to get back to a doe that was bedded down behind me. The sunrise and frosty ground made for a perfect golden hour shot.

Even though they aren't native to Iowa Ring-necked pheasant are one of my favorite birds to photograph. Hopefully this year I can photograph some native birds like Bobwhites and Prairie Chickens though

Borrowing an ef 500 F4 mki from a friend for the week. Did a little comparison between F4 and f7.1 to simulate my 100-500 dof

F4 is nice but this copy has seen better days. The sharpness, AF, and stabilization just aren't there. Hopefully I can try a Mkii f4 out soon.
