He’d heard of the people who vanished by the sea—all criminals who violated the law, of course—but they are still human. Were.  What kind of price did they pay for their freedom? Now he knows. “…I can’t.” “You sure?” Riddle closes his eyes—shutting both Floyd’s temptations and his mother’s edicts out—to ask himself the singular question that’s possessed him for his entire life: Is it really okay to be happy? & One Where You Tried Something New: Hinata scans their environment, and Komaeda sees something that makes his blood run cold.  “It’s always been quiet, ever since we got here. Almost like,” Hinata looks at Komaeda, “as if we are the only living things on this whole island.” “The sun is getting to you, Hajime. Let’s go back and—” “Aren’t you weirded out by this!?”  If they stay here much longer, Hinata will get hurt.  “How can you be so calm!?” “I really think we should go.” Komaeda’s fingers close around Hinata’s wrist. “Now.” “What are you not telling me—?” Before Komaeda can turn him away, Hinata’s eyes grow wide. And Komaeda knows it’s too late.
