I’ve also been simmering in thought space about the environments in NieR automata. I feel they all convey existentialism in very specific ways. Like one’s own existence can come into question when thinking about an amusement park and how an amusement park needs actors of agency for anything to go.

The black box in NieR Automata represents so much to me and I’m still working through those ideas.
I always consider the black box to be the actual platform you are playing NieR on as this is essentially a memory storage unit and the black box gives you access to save your game.
