Presumably it will be a bit shorter.

I've long felt that, to be effective, you have to be wiling to work with people of different political shades. The easiest, but least effective, thing to do is to dissociate from politics entirely.

Of course it is essential to have something they want.

I don’t think the people you are talking about represent all Christians, ot even the majority. It's such a diverse group it would be hard to find anyone who really represents them.

I remember that, and the one in the pub with John Cleese spoofing himself in Life of Brian.

Of course, being the BBC, they could make adverts that were incredibly long.

That's not so easy. People in industries are invested and need to be offered alternatives. Hobbyists (see my other comments) are relatively low impact, and are invested in a different way.

We are only just beginning to accept we are one species among many, not by any means the most important, while it simultaneously becomes apparent that our choices are absolutely make-or-break for the future of the entire global balance.

I believe it is important to draw a distinction between a hobbyist and a huge commercial enterprise. But the main difficulty arises because it is very hard for us to adjust to the fact that our species has colonised so much of the ecosystem.

You've touched a very difficult area. Those who keep bees - and I'm not one of them - may have got into it for the love of a natural product, and the belief that there is a benefit for local ecology through pollination. What do you do?

Why either/or?
November 24, 2025 at 4:20 AM
Is it going to open for cars at any time?
November 24, 2025 at 4:18 AM
I hadn't thought of this before but you are right. It's too pervading. We all know there is a British Transport Police. It isn't necessary to be told on every journey.
November 22, 2025 at 6:20 PM
I still don't get why they got rid of all the bikes.
November 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM
There were a lot fewer cars. Is the Telegraph going to campaign to reduce car use?

At the same time a small team is employed by the same council to engage the public in net zero. The difference in budgets is staggering.

What a valuable piece of research. It's increasingly clear to me that driving has the status of doctrine, especially at local, regional and national government level. Here in Gloucestershire we spend billions on making sure car journeys are as swift and comfortable as possible.
November 22, 2025 at 10:54 AM
Perhaps should raise the minimum age for driving year on year.
November 22, 2025 at 10:47 AM
For those enlightened souls who switch to cycling, the result is drivers venting their aggression at us. The inability of people to see which way the wind blows is astonishing. Don't shout at us - join us.
November 22, 2025 at 10:45 AM
Driving as a behaviour seems to have qualities either of resilience (positive) or addiction (negative). Rising costs, speed bumps, chicanes, width restrictions, speed limits, bus lanes, cycle lanes, pedestrian town centres...all these seem to result in fuming motorists rather than fewer motorists.

Genius.
November 22, 2025 at 10:32 AM
Thanks for the summary. I guess I was hoping it would say it shows how unnecessary large volumes of motor vehicles are, and that it will reopen for bikes and pedestrians only.
