Tonight I am mostly drinking Glencadam at Soho Whisky Club. I love this whisky. I discovered it during lockdown and it’s wildly underrated. 🥃

Found this one in a charity shop and I have to ask: is ‘Jeremy Black’ a pseudonym for a group of 20-30 academics? His output is incredible! 📚 🤓 Anyway I love 18th century diplomatic history - it’s an an essential aide to understanding military and political history! #histbookchat

The fourth and final in Tim Shipman’s Brexit odyssey has landed today. Funny, well informed and a thoroughly decent chap, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first two volumes of Shipman’s work. I suspect the third and fourth volumes will revive all the frustrations! 🤣 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 📚

My views on Lord George Sackville are entirely negative as some of you know. I now have a copy of the proceedings of his Court Martial. Drummed out of the army in disgrace who would go on to set policy in North America during the Revolution. *shakes head in disgust* 📚 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 #histbookchat

Back on the Royal Navy voyage with Roger Knight’s Convoy and the Imperial Stout from Fullers. Stout fellows of the Empire? Ok it’s tenuous but it’ll do! 🤣 🍻 📚 #readingndrinking
