@yolobirder.bsky.social didn’t you once have a thread about rarities seen during football matches? 🤔

Another unusual candidate for #foxoftheday. A mosaic made from recycled ceramics by the very talented Caroline from Mango Mosaics. West Smethwick Park, West Midlands. Top work! 👍

Presumably a Tent Moth infestation covering these 3 trees in Britannia Park, Rowley Regis, West Mids. First time I’ve seen one in real life, don’t know how common they are in the area? @ecorecord.bsky.social @gertcorfield.bsky.social @pmandrews1973.bsky.social

Much more like normal service at Edgbaston Res. Single Swallow through and Shoveler pair briefly.
The rapidly dropping water levels have put paid to the Little Grebe nesting attempt.

Mystery still surrounds the use and origins of the Rotton Park Monolith at Edgbaston Reservoir, Gtr Bearwood. There are theories as to its origin but no one is quite certain. Anything in your archives @bearwoodcouncil.bsky.social? (1/2)

This Sorbus in Rowley Regis, West Mids was downed by Storm Darragh. Quite special as it was host to two decent bunches of Mistietoe, not sure how common it is around the Brum and the Black Country, can’t think of many more records off hand. @ecorecord.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

I’m told they used to use the one on New Street but that no longer happens. Health & Safety gone mad! 🤬

I know it’s on a bit of a tangent, to say the least, but could we have a mention for the “Pig on the wall” legend from Lower Gornal up here in the sunny Black Country, please?

Possibly try some metal paint used on models? I’ve heard of folk using it to cover scratches on scopes. I’m sure there’ll be others out there with more knowledge and experience

I’ve found this in-depth study into the finer points of seagull systematics to be an infallible aid to the identification of those lousy Larids. Works every time 👌
