Filled in some pretty glaring gaps in the vinyl collection today. Also, I’ll be honest - I had no idea Winter had an EP outside their 1990 classic Into Darkness. So that was a very cool little surprise as well.

Picked this up for a dollar over the weekend. Didn’t even know these guys had a band together, but I like everyone involved AND it’s a 1986 release on Shrapnel Records. So I’m pretty sure I’m gonna like it.

Fantastic mail day! Absorbed was one of the coolest tech death bands from the ‘90s that not nearly enough people know about. This compiles their unreleased 1996 and a bunch of demos and split tracks prior. I HIGHLY recommend buying this, or at least streaming it.

It is impossible for me to leave a bookstore with nothing. I can’t do it. I knew I wanted that Liz Polly book but then I just kept going.

It’s cold, I’m tired, and I can feel the existential crisis of “what am I even doing” seeping in. Does a mega depressing doom record help? I guess we’ll see. All hail Kauan and their 2015 masterpiece Sorni Nai.

It’s been an exhausting week for no particular reason. Taking the energy way down with a beer and this live Om 10”.

Did you know Orange makes basses? I didn’t until recently. Now I have one. It’s awesome.

Another utterly insane used find over the weekend - the MASSIVE reissue of one of the greatest prog albums ever, Porcupine Tree’s In Absentia! It’s the album, a disc of all B-sides, a disc of demos (worth it for the “Heartattack In A Layby” demo), a BluRay with a 5.1 mix, AND a 100 page art book!

Went record shopping today and got a whole boatload of phenomenal stuff I’ll show, but this was a (horrible) highlight. I have literally never seen this record in person and I had to have it.

Gonna rip this to the laptop tonight and hopefully get a review out this next month! Really, truly stoked to listen to this.

Getting some work done this morning before seeing a very good friend from Gothenburg… and spinning this alien masterpiece in the background.

I’ve been really good about not spending a ton on vinyl lately… but I mean, I had to get this. I had to.

The obvious choice is Chrono Trigger, but I’m going with Far: Lone Sails anyway. Beautifully composed, insanely well recorded.

Trying to get in the habit of reading more after work and on the weekends. Just wrapped up Dave Grohl’s book and it was solid - I think I would’ve preferred a more detailed look at certain eras of his life, but it was still a well-written and great read from a dude that’s done a LOT
