#OldAlbumOctober Day 31: Whilst their back catalogue has its peaks and troughs, this is an amazing absolute classic. Perfect production, riffs to die for, bat-shit gothic keyboards, etc Just doesn't get much better than this

"Care for some necrophilia?" indeed...

#OldAlbumOctober Day 30: Happy memories of Bradford Rio's where I spent many a happy night in the 90's watching bands as diverse as WASP through a Paradise Lost warm-up gig to Agnostic Front and many, many more....

#OldAlbumOctober Day 29: ...and from one favourite band with a big back catalogue with only one suspect album to another
Always loved this song

#OldAlbumOctober Day 28: Had to include some Motörhead on here somewhere. Love pretty much everything they did (even "March or Die" has it's (albeit rare) moments, but this being the best alum they released outside of the "Classic Lineup" era is a hill I'm prepared to die on

#OldAlbumOctober Day 27: Had to pick up some bits yesterday, needed a suitable soundtrack to help face the Sunday Shopping Zombie Hordes, hit "random" on my phone
This was the selection and a thoroughly suitable choice I'm sure you'll all agree (Possibly saved a few lives and me a prison sentence)

#OldAlbumOctober Day 26: Not been impressed by any Testament release since "Formation of Damnation" so not bothered with their latest.

Instead, digging this out by a band that I'm sure will be the first to admit that they may have been oh-so-slightly influenced by Chuck and company...

#OldAlbumOctober Day 25: As there's a trend for bands getting back together, I'm undecided in this case if it would be a good or bad thing (if indeed it happened)
Three awesome albums, each slightly better than the previous - would a fourth spoil it (although Coroner have shown what's possible)

#OldAlbumOctober Day 25: Sadly missed them when they played with Faith No More in 1990 and it possibly sounds a little "of its time" but that's also a good thing. They don't write 'em like this any more 😀

(Also featured comedian Steve Hughes on drums at one point of their career fact fans...)

#OldAlbumOctober Day 23: Some albums (and bands) are like toastie makers. You forget about them for a while, remember them, dig it out, use it constantly for a few weeks then forget about them for a while, rinse and repeat
Exhibit A. Love it and forgot how much I love it every time I dig it out
October 23, 2025 at 6:07 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 22: Sadly probably more relevant than it was 30-odd years ago, as much as I love Killing Joke, I have to listen to them in moderation as I usually end up in a bad mood for the rest of the day. It's like listening to George Carlin routines put to music
October 22, 2025 at 6:10 AM
@goc1978.bsky.social I know you don't do "the other place" any more, but thought I'd pass this on (the fact that "Predator 2" not only is below "The Predator" but not even on the list tells me everything I need to know...)

#OldAlbumOctober Day 21: If Pete Steele (RIP) was still around, I can only begin to imagine him pissing himself laughing at those that spectacularly miss the irony and humour in his music in these "enlightened times', this album in particular
October 21, 2025 at 6:09 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 20: Still undecided on the new album (could a half decent production job have saved it?), so in the meantime back to a classic (and a reminder that Anthrax have the second best song inspired by Judge Dredd...)
October 20, 2025 at 6:06 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 19: Been a huge Overkill fan since the 80's and DD Verni is possibly my biggest reason for picking up the bass (and then actually trying to learn how to play it 30 years later), so his side project was a no-brainer
Completely different from his day job but certainly interesting
October 19, 2025 at 7:07 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 18: In an alternative universe somewhere, this album got the kudos and sales it deserved, John Bush is still the vocalist and you can go to an Anthrax gig and not know the tired set list.
Unfortunately...
Maybe this album should have been titled "Why We Can't Have Nice Things"
October 18, 2025 at 6:33 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 17: ....and speaking of Dimmu Borgir, can't beat a good (storm)blast of this. Forgot how bloody HUGE the production is! People talk about the work of Bob Rock on "The Black Album", but this is on another level

"Pure Fucking Armageddon" indeed....
October 17, 2025 at 6:19 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 16: Like a completely bat-shit clasic Dimmu Borgir, another album that was part of my soundtrack to the late 90's

There is/was a trend on Facebook of "That one album that reminds you of a certain time in your life". If you've only got one, you aren't listening to enough music
October 16, 2025 at 6:10 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 16: Mentioned in a previous post that when Prong are firing on all cylinders, they're on a different level and this is a perfect example.
One of the many on a long list of "I remember this album being good but I'd had forgotten just HOW good!"
October 15, 2025 at 6:10 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 14: Having mentioned Testament yesterday, only fair to talk about them in a positive light
I know this era splits the fanbase (and wasn't supposed to be released under that name), but always been loved this and the followup (would take either over anything post "Formation...")
October 14, 2025 at 6:08 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 13: Possibly peak "Tin Foil Hat" wearing Dave with some very "questionable" lyrics (although not as bad as some recent Testament releases), but some seriously great riffs ("Black Swan" is possibly my favourite 'Deth song since "Rust...") and first rate production.
October 13, 2025 at 6:20 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 12: Outside of a couple of songs, never got into or understood the attraction of Queens of the Stone Age, whereas always felt that the post-Kyuss work of John Garcia was criminally overlooked, both this and Slo Burn being fat more interesting to these battered ears at least...
October 12, 2025 at 7:25 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 11: Sadly missed them at Dynamo '97 (thus meaning that it's unlikely that I'll ever get the chance to see them live)

Not a fan of their early (and then later) Death Metal stuff, but when they go Industrial and sound almost like a "Gothic Rammstein", it really hits the spot
October 11, 2025 at 7:09 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 10: Like a better and darker Ministry with twin vocals, picked up after hearing a track on a sampler CD (insert generic "Kids today how easy they have it" comment here)
Not quite as good as I remember, nice hot of nostalgia and takes me back to a certain time of my life...
October 10, 2025 at 6:09 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day 9: Still remember (and will never forgive) Don Kaye giving this one "K" in Kerrang! and having to get it on import via mail order from "Alice's Records" (one for the oldies there 😉) - no allegedly tax-dodging websites in those days kids!
Easily in my top 3 Overkill albums
October 9, 2025 at 6:09 AM
#OldAlbumOctober Day Eight: Despite being the "more open-minded" 90's, I seem to remember the press having an issue with a band of females sounding like Alice in Chains whilst any number of male copyists got a free pass

Whilst there is an obvious influence there, its a different take and great CD
