The best take on Supermans politics is probably from Morrison/Bendis
He starts off radical but as his powers grow he becomes more of a centrist lib until later in life he regrets not doing more and emphasises the Man of Tomorrow stuff again

I don't think big two comics are unsalvageable at all. There's a bit of a creative rut right now, but it'll come and go, like always. Anyone saying otherwise is being very dramatic.
