There's an old Italian saying: you fuck up once, you lose two teeth.
He's one of the few from that side of politics who's savvy enough to push people closer to his point of view without ever having his mask slip. Much more savvier than the people who came before him, unfortunately.

I'm sure there will be a bias slant, because there always is. But given the lack of information that's around CCP figures, largely thanks to China's unwillingness to air its dirty laundry, it's kind of a tough spot.

Why? I am still going to read it anyway and, quite frankly, people criticize Suettinger over the lack of resources available to him while not also taking into consideration that Beijing has heavily censored and block access to a lot of documents related to Hu, making it rather limited.

Kraut, these were the same people who were gleefully massacring the Irish as punishment for participating in the Great Irish Rebellion and pushing back against London's grand colonial project for the Emerald Isle when Pellew made this quote. The British talk out of both sides of their mouths.

So he's never allowed to ever redeem himself for what he did? Who died and gave you that position of authority? What Louis CK did was scummy, make no mistake. But to say that he should be permanently blocked from trying to make amends and earn a living the best way he knows how is idiotic.

Just got the book The Conscience of the Party by Robert Suettinger, which is about Hu Yaobang. I will let you know about it after I start sinking my teeth into it.

I think that's the feeling most people have these days when it comes to the internet, especially since it is becoming more and more corporate. It's why I personally feel like it needs to be much more decentralized outside of Silicon Valley.

The issue is that one could block and mute as much as possible and still get fed nothing but slop. The algorithm is typically designed, from what I've been reading, to ignore your preferences in order to privilege those who pay for the check mark and whatnot. At least this is true in Twitter's case.

All it seems to have done is given a means for people to engagement farm off rage bait without having anything meaningful. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way and yet this feature, just like with AI, doesn't appear to be going away. Not from BlueSky, not from Twitter, not from anywhere.

I mean...Fox News did have Shepard Smith for a long time on their books. They also had Sally Kohn, Bryan Llenas, and Guy Benson.

More Walt, less Disney.

Hate to break it to you, but the CCP's grip over China isn't one that will break within our lifetimes.

Could you argue that, with Labour, they are just giving lip service in exchange for votes on an issue they have no intention of fixing? Genuinely asking out my own morbid curiosity.

Sadly most principals and vice principals act to move their own careers forward rather than actually help their students.

It's funny how anti-bullying campaigns always seem to result in the victim being told to keep quiet rather than actually punishing the bullies.

Yeah, no teacher should be making comments about a student's body like that when they hold a significant position of power over them, as well as for that it is, like you said, highly inappropriate.
November 4, 2025 at 4:54 AM
Why would a teacher even make a comment about that sort of thing? That's a shitty thing to say to a student.
