nyc ruined me on bagels. i had to figure out how to bake them with that texture at home. (the trick is boiling for two minutes on each side instead of one)

i’m certainly not complaining that these people think i’m a superhero for having the most basic scenery possible ready for day one. i’m just doing exactly what i was trained to do, but i’ll take it.

+ i’m super used to companies rehearsing on unfinished sets as i’m completing them bc they ONLY rehearse on the sets at new jewish! the stage managers rarely ever have to tape out a set over there. we RACED to get decks + indications of wall placement ready for them!

mind you, they didn’t know that when they hired me. the artistic director was the maestro for Pinafore with a different opera company + liked my work on that enough to cold email me four months later.

i started replying to anxious apologies with reassurance that they have not wronged me + don’t owe me an apology + most people find comfort in it but a few people have straight up yelled at me + i’m always confused
