It gives me hope that CRISPR and other methods or rna editing are currently being used to see if HIV can be removed from cells, but it makes me deeply sad that those remedies will probably not be implemented as a common or accessible treatment for a very long time

It took humans about 20 years after identifying the HIV virus to see the long term effects and by that time the effects were at their absolute worst, and all that without it having the same ability to take wild leaps on evolution the way COVID can

COVID has been recognized as such a virus and yet nobody wants to say AIDS anymore they just say immune disorders, which serves the same purpose but it ignores the severity that AIDS came to be associated with, even tho it *is* that severe, we just haven't had COVID around as long as HIV
