Framing the HIV epidemic as a gay issue and conflating it with AIDS to the point where AIDS just became synonymous with gay history is extremely harmful in the current pandemic. AIDS stands for aquired immune deficiency syndrome and it's something you can get from any virus that destroys your tcells
