Wait, what? My son’s friend, traveling in China, is staying at a hotel chain called ‘James Joyce Coffetel’, and instead of a Gideon Bible, they leave a copy of Ulysses by the bedside.

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

This is why, when President Slurs McSundown passes away, it's going to be a battle royale as all these selfish grifters shank each other before the funeral is over.
see the thing about them all being the worst people in the world is that even when one of them gets killed they can't create a proper cult of martyrdom around him because the others get jealous he's getting all the attention.
I'm not quite sure where to start

I miss the good old days when most of us had a shared reality.
*More than half of the GOP believe the 2020 election outcome was the result of fraud
*More than 4 out of 10 believe 9/11 was an inside job
*37% believe the Holocaust did not happen or was exaggerate
*36% believe NASA faked the moon landing
*1 in 3 believe vaccines cause autism

I don’t know what’s going on, but I’m happy I have quick reflexes because I was at risk of around six accidents in the last two days. Two people flying head-on at me to go around cars that are double parked, two cars blowing red lights, two people cut me off on the freeway. Many Teslas involved.

there are of course many examples of political constituencies that have in fact killed scores of children (en route to some other evil goal), but I can't offhand think of any historical examples of a political constituency organized for that specific purpose
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

There has been no debate here among constitutional scholars, historians, political scientists, anyone with a pulse really.

Any telling you that this very straightforward point, one that has been universally accepted for a century and a half, is now an "abstruse" issue is just a liar and a hack.
Anyone who knows this history should know there’s no contested issue.

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos says BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER would have been just as big on Netflix.

“There’s no reason to believe that the movie itself is better in any size of screen for all people. My son’s an editor, he watched ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ on his phone.”

I may owe my downstairs neighbor cookies or something; I knocked over my water bottle at 2:30 am and in my frenzy to stop water pouring everywhere I knocked a picture off the wall. Now at 6:30 in the morning my cat is wildly banging around with all of her toys. (We are normally very quiet up here.)

Sylvia Townsend Warner’s ‘The Corner That Held Them’ (1948) chronicles several decades of life in the English convent of Oby during the 14th century. It’s a rich and brilliant portrayal of the lives of medieval women at the time of the Black Death. Townsend Warner was born #OTD in 1893. #BookWormSat

"Like most kakistocrats, they do damage simply by being incompetent."
That’s another horrendous ACIP meeting on the books. This clown show did a lot more than weakly recommend delaying the HBV birth dose and compare vaccines to planes.
