Today is the first day in a few weeks with no one else but us in our house. I have no meetings. I have 1 place I have to go, some time today. But otherwise I'm reveling in having the house to ourselves.

The Cancún airport departures is insane. So busy. There is a line for the lounge at least 75 people deep. I just spent $80 on snacks. Our flight is delayed and we might miss the last flight into Buffalo and have to stay in Philly overnight.

It’s our last night in Cancun. We had dinner at the Brazilian steakhouse and I’m oozing steak out of every pore. I’m tipsy and somewhat sunburned, and my wife smuggled 2 pocketfuls of chicken nuggets back for the girls. Helluva way to go out.

Tomorrow I have to board the orange cat brothers, first time since we brought them home 2 years ago. They lived their first 5 years in a shelter, so I hope this isn't too traumatic for them - particularly Milo, who has come a LONG way from not coming near me for 3 months. Good luck, boys.

I don't know how we got into a very "round them up / papers please" situation in this country without a civil war, but I'm pretty sad about it and don't see what the way forward is. It's not a tenable situation for a supposedly free country. Which I guess we're not any more.

I am extremely happy I live in the state where I will eventually (hopefully soon) be able to vote for AOC to replace Schumer.
