Finally got around to watching FURIOSA. Can't call it a work of genius and the reliance on CGI was shocking (for a film maker who has always prided himself on doing stuff 'for real'), but in terms of taking the weirdness of the world of Mad Max and playing with it - pretty good.

It's scary, the replies to my recent posts and video on JMS for showrunner, that don't realise he's a UK resident these days, or the true breadth of his writing career. He's a true legend of sci-fi writing, offering himself to the BBC, and it's sat there for years, with a finger up its nose.

Has anyone stood up after this #DoctorWho S13 boxset and defended, or at least explained, the thinking behind the restoration work that's landing so badly with people? Surely someone watched this and signed off on it before it went out. What was the approval process there?

Some time ago, a decade or more, I made a real effort to get the set of hardcover Short Trips books that Big Finish put out. I got most of them - 20-something out of the 29 - but never got them all. I hardly see them come up for sale any more and, when they do, are $$$. We're talking stupid $$$.

With the wait between THE REALITY WAR and the 2026 DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL lasting longer that the 1985 hiatus did (1 year 6 months & 24 days versus 1 year, 5 months & 24 days), the only logical thing to do was make a pop record. Blame @masolko.bsky.social!

The one thing that *does* excite me right now with the Disney news is that if we are playing with less cash and do go in the direction of cheaper 'ghost story' eps, to use this RTD quote from some time back, I think #DoctorWho can actually be at its best doing that sort of thing.
