Sometimes, to become a fossil as great as this, you have to be in the right place at the right time!

Most skeletons are scattered/damaged before burial. But in this case, it was quickly buried by sand, protecting the skeleton from disturbance. This resulted in a nearly complete fossil in what we call the "death pose", where the neck and tail arched as the muscles and tendons contracted after death.

At ~76 million years old, this juvenile was found in the Dinosaur Park Formation in Dinosaur Provincial Park, an area famous for its Late Cretaceous fossils. What makes this specimen so incredible is that it's articulated, meaning the bones are still arranged the way they were in life!
