Hi, everyone! I'm Skye, a field paleontologist and science communicator. I work for Elevation Science, a nonprofit based on research, education, and outreach. Right now, I study Jurassic sauropods and work in the Morrison Formation.

I can also yap about dinosaurs. Let's do it together sometime! 🦕🦖
My colleagues and I were recently on CBS Los Angeles! Check out the incredible work Marina Jurica does and how the events recorded in the fossil record can guide us to make better decisions for our future. 🦖✨
Ancient climates 🤝 today’s lessons.

We were recently shown on CBS LA in a segment on fossils, the K–Pg boundary, and what past climate change can teach us now. Huge thanks to Marina Jurica & her son John for letting us be part of the journey!

The debate is over — Nanotyrannus lives!

Well, it used to anyway. Scientists have now confirmed the existence of the tiny tyrant, #Nanotyrannus, ending an almost century-long debate among #dinosaur experts and enthusiasts. Not only does Nanotyrannus exist, but there are now two recognized species!

You can make digging for dinosaurs YOUR whole personality too! 🦕

Sign-ups for the 2026 season are live and filling up as we speak! Spend a week with us in the Bighorn Basin of Montana, excavating and preserving Jurassic dinosaurs like Diplodocus, Allosaurus, and more!

Questions? Let's hear it!

This #Halloween, we're talking about FOSSIL FRANKENSTEINS! ⚡

Most dinosaurs you see in museums are "Frankensteins", built from the bones of several individuals or replicas that fill in the gaps. Next time you visit a museum, remember: you're looking at many hours of research and reconstruction!

Talk about bending over backwards!

This beautifully preserved #Gorgosaurus libratus, a cousin of T. rex, is one of the coolest fossils on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada.

We're having field flashbacks!

As it gets colder in our little corners of the world, we're throwing it back to field season: covered in dust, sun-soaked and sunscreened, and taking it one discovery at a time.

Who's ready to get back to the quarry next summer!?

World Mental Health Day 🤍

In science, it’s easy to push too hard, skip rest, or feel like asking for help is failing. But your worth isn’t measured by productivity.

Rest isn’t laziness. Help isn’t weakness. Balance isn’t optional.

Your mental health matters. Today and every day.

For the @nytimes.com, I wrote about Joaquinraptor, a new species from a very cool family of dinosaurs: long-armed, hook clawed (possible) tyrannosaur relatives from South America

Had a CROC-kin' good time at the Alabama Fossil Fest! 🐊

It was so fun connecting with hundreds of people from all over the southeast to talk about fossils, dinosaurs, and the incredible work being done by @elevationscience.bsky.social. Big thanks to everyone who chatted with me!

Every field season is unique. Some bring breakthroughs, big or small. Some bring more questions than answers. Some make you sweat more than you'd like (Actually, all of them do that, but I digress). B...

Standing under Patagotitan mayorum at the AMNH is mind-blowing; one of the biggest titanosaurs known. Lived ~100 million years ago in Argentina, ~30-40 meters long and ~55-70 tons. Titanosaurs were the late-Cretaceous sauropods—long necks, massive bodies, wide global range. Absolutely incredible!

For #FossilFriday, we're covering the process of winter jacketing in the field!

Ever wonder what happens to the fossils we leave behind? They get winter jackets! Not to keep them warm, but to protect them from the elements and local wildlife during the harsh Montana weather.

This #FossilFriday, we got into the recent Spicomellus news! This new dinosaur just might have been the most punk rock yet! 🤘

165 million years ago in Morocco, this dinosaur was literally bristling, with neck spikes, fused armor, a sacral shield, and even a tail weapon. How cool!
