Correction* Fossati...perhaps made a watercolor of the Christ Pantokrator (Cyril Mango argues it comes from the south gallery)

Some of the mosaics of Chora/Kariye and Pammakaristos/ Fethiye Camii were never covered, such as Christ Pantokrator in the parekklesion. The Fossati brothers, who restored Hagia Sophia in the mid-19th century, also made a watercolor of the Christ Pantokrator in its dome before covering again.

It was possibly covered by 1610 during repairs of Sultan Ahmed I, though there are accounts of it in succeeding years. The last depiction of the Virgin Mary and other mosaics was made by Cornelius Loos in 1710/11.
