A year ago, I wrote, financed, shot and directed a short on Super 8 film (about two spies who know they are characters in a spy movie). In a few months, there will be another one (NOT about two spies who know they are characters in a spy movie), but for now, you can watch (or rewatch) this one here.

As basically anyone who’s talked to me since the summer knows, I’ve been working on this for months. Thanks to everyone who shared their insights. (I’ve got a lot more to say in the future, too.)

I am not familiar with his plays, but I am VERY familiar with his adaptation of Le Carré's THE RUSSIA HOUSE, a brilliant work of adaptation that was underappreciated at the time and remais underrated today.

Saw it a few weeks ago, and it's a brilliant film.
"Once in a while, you see a movie that doesn’t feel made, but extracted from a dreaming mind. It won’t go to you and hand over its meanings. You have to go to it." I reviewed The Secret Agent, my favorite film of 2025. Haunting, beautiful, profound. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/the-...

RELAY is a pretty good movie until the twist that completely ruins pretty much everything that comes before it.

They are not merely selling their voices. They are selling out every voice actor in the world, and should be ashamed of themselves.
1/2 My current book project deals in part with the fascinating developments in AI voice performance that are moving esp fast on the technical/financial fronts yet seem still overshadowed by broader sociocultural emphases on AI & visual components of media performance.

Were these guys confused when Bond gained his 00 status in CASINO ROYALE, after decades of movies with other actors? Is it that difficult to understand that it all starts from scratch with each different actor (and even from movie to movie)?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

weird thing about film culture today: box office success seems like an even bigger point of discussion than ever, yet ticket sales are clearly less and less a part of the project's overall profitability. since there's no transparency in how movies make money in streaming, we just don't talk about it

This is a very normie take, but it's either Mascagni's Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana or Il Sogno, both in Scorsese's RAGING BULL.
What's your favorite use of pre-existing classical music in a movie not directed by Stanley Kubrick?

Mine is probably "Hall of the Mountain King" from Fritz Lang's M, the main melody of which is whistled by the killer.
