This is a beautiful song by Neal Morgan, a Portland songwriter who also magically arranged and played drums for Joanna Newsom and Bill Callahan. I'm delighted he asked me to sing on it! For my album "Becoming Noise" I improvised for months on piano and later developed the songs with beats I made using a 1960's inspired drum machine. The lyrics came in a flood one night, and the drawing of the girl exhaling a figure was scribbled onto a scrap of paper while I was in the studio.
