With these characters, I looked to Pedro from Saludos Amigos and Susie the Little Blue Coupe for inspiration.

Again, they probably did this to lean a bit more into a Tex Avery/MGM influence, especially as Red is a character who has blue eyes. Because the characters act in similar fashions but their voices (being different actors) are slightly different.
