At least it was all dead…

It’s shocking, I know, but it happens far too often.

Always remove old wires during a renovation while the walls are open.

You wouldn’t want someone to accidentally reconnect them down the road and cause an issue.

Want to maximize your return on investment and make a safe place for people to live?

Always get a permit when needed and follow local bylaws and building codes.

Being able to market and sell something that is legal and code conforming is a great way to attract more buyers.

Always make sure you are following proper installation instructions for your flooring.

Using the wrong under pad for the type of flooring you are using can cause early failure and make you have to replace the product sooner than needed.

Why the lowest bid isn’t always the best…

Pay for the outcome you want and readjust the scope of work needed to ensure your project will work.

Never force it.

Increasing curb appeal is a great way to up the value of a property.

Cleaning up flower beds and adding some fresh mulch really freshens up a space.

Use every advantage you can to maximize profits on the exit.

String lines are essential for any craftsmen…

It is the perfect tool when doing any sort of layout, and always comes in handy when you least expect it.

If you don’t have one, do yourself a favor and pick one up… or several.

Make sure you are researching contractors and ensuring they are qualified and experience to perform the job you want done.

Unfortunately, having to redo something can be a lot more expensive than doing it right the first time.

Still great advice, one year later…

Always make sure you are checking comparables in your area to make sure that you are renovating and building to the level that is expected for that area.

There’s nothing worse than over or under renovating a property.

Order of operations on a construction site matter.

Make sure you are meeting with all of your trades and going over who needs to go where and when to make sure there won’t be any interferences that could cause issues.

Proper planning will make sure that your job always runs smooth.

Good news for beach goers in the Wasaga Beach area.

Millions of dollars are being pumped into the area to increase tourism, including a new $45 million hotel from the Marriott.

Definitely a good sign for things to come for the area.

More housing coming to Scarborough!

Over 7000 units have been approved with over 3000 parking spaces between the buildings.

Definitely a good sign for the real estate market in the Toronto area.

Don’t cheap out on labor or materials, especially in a bathroom.

There’s nothing worse than having to do something twice and pay for it both times.

Adding more caulk is not advised…

Make sure you fully remove old caulking and sealants before installing a new bead of it.

Do it right the first time, every time, and your renovation will last a lifetime.
